Arjun’s 4 movies releasing in 2010

Thirty years in film industry and yet action king Arjun strikes with the same spectacular shows as he posed three decades ago. Looking young, zippy, and energetic is his unparalleled USP. With his four important films scheduled for release by the end of 2010, the actor is busy now simultaneously shooting for these projects.
The first to hit the screens in this league will be his bilingual movie Vande Mataram, in which he has shared screen space with Malayalam superstar Mammootty. This film is directed by D. Aravindan and is produced by Henry under the banner of Pankaj Productions. His other film Maasi directed by Kiccha features him as a cop, who doesn’t use his brawniness, but his brains to spifflicate the baddies.
Striding away from these films will be Vallakottai as Arjun performs an unusual role of a petty thief. Literally vexed with his fraudulent acts, he decides to give up. But his arrival in Vallakottai, a district in Southern Tamil Nadu has different plans for him. Filmmaker Kiccha adds that the film will be racy enough to keep audiences on edge of their seats, with a climax studded with breathtaking stunts.
Arjun’s Mei Kaan will be a thriller set in the backdrop of Malaysia and is directed by Major Ravi, who recently completed shooting for his multilingual movie Kandahar with superstars Mohan Lal and Amitabh Bachchan.

Vijay’s Political Project

laya Thalapathy Vijay has almost completed his 51st film Kaaval Kaadhal with Asin and is all set to commence work on his 52nd. The film titled as Velayudham to be produced by Aascar Ravichandran and directed by Jeyam Raja will have Hansika Motwani and Genelia D’Souza as Vijay’s on screen partners. Velayudham is the remake of Telugu Azad which featured Nagarjuna and is said to deal with the serious issues that are plaguing the common man and the solutions for the same. It appears that the film may be laced with political flavor. The launch of Velayudham on 15th July will be a unique one but in a very grandiose manner akin to any political function. The event will be held at the Madras University Centenary hall and more than 10,000 Vijay fans will be gracing the occasion. The caring star that Vijay is, he would be distributing colorful T shirts and biriyani packets to each and every fan who attends the function. A novel launch indeed!
Big B in Ooty

Arjun becomes ‘Thalapathi’

The ‘Action King’ has not changed his sobriquet in tune with the trend of Tamil cinema. But the Telugu dubbing version of his forthcoming film ‘Maasi’, directed by G Kicha, has been titled ‘Thalapathi’.
Sources have it that both the versions would have a simultaneous release and plans are on to market the film in a big way in Andhra Pradesh, as Arjun has a decent fan following in the ‘Telugu Desam’.
On the film, the director says, ““Unlike his earlier flicks where he flexes his muscles, Arjun plays an encounter specialist who weeds out his enemies through his incredible intelligence. All the same, his fans won’t be disappointed on the action front.”
“There are some unusual stunts which are performed by the actor without a body double,” Kicha says and adds: “Archana from Mumbai and Hema from Tollywood act opposite him. Pradeep Rawat plays the menacing villain.”
Vikram wants to act again in Manirathnam’s film

The Hindi version of Raavanan is the film which has Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Vikram, and Priyamani in the cast. In the Tamil version it has Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Prithviraj, Priyamani, Karthika and Prabhu in the cast.
This film is being released simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu world wide on 18th of this month. In an interview to the media, Vikram said:
You have acted in Shankar’s film and now you have acted in Manirathnam’s film. What is your next goal?
I want to act again in Shankar’s film and I also want to act in Manirathnam’s film. I also want to act in Bala’s and Dharani’s film. There are lots of talented directors in Tamil cinema. I also want to act in their films.
Was Manirathnam satisfied with your acting and did he appreciate you?
It is a big thing that Manirathnam is giving a film to an actor. He has given the opportunity to work in the Tamil and Hindi versions because he had the confidence that I can act. Now a days when he sees me , he smiles at me. Because of this I think that I have acted well.
You are being introduced to Hindi films through Raavan. Will you to continue to act in Hindi films?
I am already getting offers in Hindi. But why should I go there when my films are doing well here. I am getting name and fame here. I am not ready to part with this. My priority is always for Tamil films only. I will accept Hindi films if it is extraordinary.

Asin’s salary is Rs 2 Crores to act in the Tamil remake of Malayalam film Body Guard

Asin is back into Kollywood. The Malayalam film Body Guard is being remade in Tamil. Vijay is doing the lead role. Asin was under consideration for the heroine’s role and it seems that she has demanded Rs 2 Crores as her salary.
Now she is the highly paid actress in Tamil film industry. She made her debut in the Tamil film M Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi. After this she continued to act in many films including Varalaaru, Pokkiri, Ghajini and Azhwar.
The last film she acted in Tamil was Dasavatharam with Kamal Haasan. Ghajini which was remade in Hindi in which she did the female lead role became a super hit. Because of this she quit Tamil films. But her next film London Dreams was a flop. Because of this she did not get many offers in Hindi and she has come back to Tamil films but she has not reduced her salary and has hiked her salary.
Vijay takes the risk in the mid sea

Sura is Vijay’s 50th film which is being presented by Sun Pictures. S P Rajkumar is directing this film. When we asked the director about this film, he said,” This film will be equivalent to 10 films that Vijay has so far acted.
There will be so many actions and sensations. Though the film has all the ingredients like action, romance, comedy and dance as in Vijay films, the basic root of this film is the screenplay. Every scene will make his fans applaud, because every scene including the climax will be new to the audience.
Vijay is donning the role of a fisherman who does not live for himself but for others. Thamanna who is a high class girl pairs with him. She is donning the role of a bubbly mischievous college girl. No one needs to know the pranks played by Vijay-Vadivelu combo.
In the similar way Vadivelu has out beaten his earlier comedies. All the songs composed by Mani Sharma has come out well. Vijay who takes risk in the action scenes in all his films has taken risk in this film by swimming half a mile in the sea.
He stunned the crew by doing this scene without using dupe. We have brought Dev Gill who had acted in Telugu film Magadheera to act in this film. After completing the whole film, I will come back with some more additional information about this film.”

Arjun speaks to the media

Arjun is the guy who fulfills the hunger of action lovers. Now he is donning the role of a different kind of police officer in the film Vande Mataram. While giving an interview to the media recently about this, he said:
What does it mean different kind of police officer role in the film Vande Mataram? This film is about terrorism. But it is narrated in a different way. I have not donned the usual police officer role. This police officer role will be like the role I did in Kuruthipunal. There are no songs for me in this film. My fans can see a different Arjun in this film.
Action?
Actins scenes will be logic. The fighting sequences will make the audience sit upright. There are some action scenes with fights also. That is the highlight of this film.
Your experience acting with Mammooty?
He isn’t a self-aggrandizing person though he is a super star. He is a person who loves to do variety roles. Both of us exposed our actions in a different way. But there was a healthy competition between us. This has made Vande Mataram more profound.
What about directing again?
I am making efforts for this. I have planned to direct a film in Tamil and Hindi language. I have also written the story. I am also acting in a film directed by Venkatesh. The title of the film will be likely to be Vaayu Puttaran.
Will you make your son act?
At present there is no such idea. He is studying.
Suriya, the 'lion' king

Suriya is sure of scoring a hat-trick with 'Singam', his 25th film, after the back-to-back successes of 'Ayan' and 'Aadhavan'.
Teaming up with director Hari after 'Aaru' and 'Vel', Suriya plays a tough police officer who fights for a cause in the movie. Produced by Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green Productions. 'Singam' features Prakash Raj as the antagonist while Anushka plays Suriya's ladylove.
Says Hari, "both ‘Aaru’ and ‘Vel’ were commercial hits. We hope to make it three-in-a-row with ‘Singam’. Suriya had played a similar role in 'Kaakka Kaakka' earlier, but ‘Singam’ is being made differently. It will be more vibrant and action-packed."
He adds: "Suriya and Prakash Raj are coming together for the first time. Devi Sri Prasad has scored some peppy numbers and one of the duet songs choreographed by Brindha was shot in the exotic locales of Dubai."
