Namitha’s four in a row

The tall and gorgeous Namitha is making waves in Tamil cinema with a slew of releases this season. Namitha had a great start this year with Sundar C’s ‘Perumal’ hitting the screens in February. Sundar C and Namitha paired up yet again to be the lead cast in ‘Thee’, distributed by Sun Pictures. 'Indra Vizha’ and ‘1977’ are the forthcoming flicks that have Namitha playing prominent roles. Starring Srikanth and Namitha, ‘Indira Vizha’ is directed by Rajeshwar. Namitha plays the role of a rich and haughty natured girl. The act offers abundant scope to bring the best out of the heroine. Directed by debutant GN Dinesh Kumar, an erstwhile ad maker, ‘1977’ is an anticipated extravagant venture of Sarath Kumar, who dons his favorite dual role that of a father and son. The glam quotient of Namitha will be underplayed as she plays a pivotal role of a lawyer in this film. All in all, Namitha is now hot property of Kollywood and if these films make it big at the box office, we will sure be seeing more of the actress in 2009.

Karunaas’ Big Birthday Celebrated

Out of all, this would be the biggest birthday in the life of Karunaas. You know why? The actor who had churned out various musical albums before entering into film industry on the course turns music director. Yup! as known earlier, Karunaas who was at first merely played comedian role in ‘Rajathi Raja’ was offered to score music replacing Dheena.
Now, it has raised everyone’s expectations across the audio market and everyone’s on the tiff of bagging the rights. Known for tuning the best ‘Gaana’ numbers, the album will have the remix version of ‘Elandha Pazham’ from the yesteryear classic film ‘Panama Paasama’.
This would feature both Raghava Lawrence and Meenakshi on the screens. Sakthi Chidambaram, Director of the film has plans to launch the audio in a grand manner…

Yaavarum Nalam – Watch it to get your spines Chilled

Movie - Yaavarum Nalam
Production: Big Pictures
Direction: Vikram Kumar
Star-casts: Madhavan, Neethu Chandra, Hari Nair, Ameetha, Sachin Khanderkar, Ravi Babu and many others.
Music: Shankar-Ehasan-Loy
Cinematography: P.C. Sriram
PRO: Johnson It’s completely off-the-wall from the director’s take off with ‘Alai’. A film that was supposed to be an entertainer turned to be a pathetic piece of work. Perhaps, working all throughout these years, he has brimmed with an extraordinary horror that none of our Kollywood filmmakers attempted to do.
Synopsis
Manohar (Madhavan) and his elder brother (Hari) with all their best efforts buy a new house-apartment on loan. Manohar’s wife (Neethu Chandra), brother’s wife (Ameetha), their kids, sister and mega-serial maniac mom (Saranya) are all elated about their new house.
Things are so fine and happily moving until a new television serial ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ commences on a satellite channel. The ladies who are so attached to the serial don’t realize that whatever happens there is turning into reality amongst them in their own families. When Manohar spots this out accidentally, he’s off with high and low tides of fear.
On the pars, he’s so satisfied that everything is so favorable to him that his brother gets promotion, his sister with long-time arrears scoring first-class marks and most of all his wife getting pregnant.
But, he’s not aware about the following episodes that will pull him upside down with unbelievable shocks. Yeah! He discovers that the serial is getting telecasted only in his house…
Performance:
Madhavan is extraordinary on his show. Be it the scenes where he romances with his wife or the scariest part of dealing the hardest situation, he is outstanding. Neethu Chandra, Saranya and other actors have done their best. Especially Ravi Babu as Cop dominates all throughout second half, makes you laugh at many parts.
Direction:
Vikram has carefully penned each and every shot so perfectly that it has proportions of comedy, romance, fun and frolic. It really makes us doubt was he the same filmmaker who made a film ‘Alai’.
Technical Aspects:
P.C. Sriram spells the best with his top-notching cinematography. Maybe, he wants to reveal his touch of shaking camera. But that doesn’t fit the screen all the time as it distracts the audiences. Background score by Tubbi Parik is mind-boggling while the songs Shankar-Ehasan-Loy are perfectly done. The melodies and the jazzy numbers are good when it goes with the best technical shows. Sreekar Prasad’s editing is crisp adding to the visual enhancement on the screen.
Final Take:
It’s the first ever film here we get to see that Technical and Narrative aspects are dominating the actors on the screens. Of course, though the actors have done a splendorous job, it’s the gripping screenplay with lots of twists and turns, best cinematography, editing and sound mixing, background score that dominates throughout the film.
Verdict: Don’t miss it at any cost..

Priyamani shows what she isn’t supposed to?

Actress Priyamani kick-started her career with good projects and in fact she was considered to be the luckiest one for having casted in great filmmakers on the row; Bharathiraja, Balu Mahendra and Ameer. But now, things are completely vice-versa as she has been making out and most obscene appearances that she wrongly considers as ‘Glamour’.
On all the way, before watching the stills that she had posed for Telugu Movie ‘Drona’, it’s advisable to keep a fever tablet as you would be stricken by it.
On the pars, she has been donning some good roles in the recent time that includes Malayalam movie ‘Thiraikadha’ and of course, she would surely have the best out of Mani Rathnam’s ‘Raavana’.
Looks like the actress is committing the biggest blunder on the course of proving herself best on both glamorous and offbeat roles that doesn’t happen so?

Trisha roped in for a Malayalam film

Another A-list Kollywood actress is going to make her debut in the Malayalam Film Industry. Trisha has agreed to play the lady love of Dileep in an yet to be titled film to be directed by script writer/director - B.Unnikrishnan.
Right from the 80’s several actresses from other states have come and made a mark in the Malayalam film industry. But Trisha’s entry into the Malayalam filmdom will be very special.
This is because she is currently one among the top most leading actress in Kollywood and also has a big fan following in all the states in south India. In majority of the Malyalam movies, the female actors get enough and more scope to show their acting skills.
And glamour does not get that much prominence as in other film industries. So for Trisha, acting in this new movie can turn out to be a novel experience.
The movie to be produced by Vaishakha movies will commence its production by the end of September.

Vijayakanth grooves for MGR song!

Vijayakanth is one guy who knows exactly how to manage time. That is precisely the reason behind his political career as well as his career in films running parallel. The ‘captain’ will soon be seen in a film titled ‘Mariyadhai’ which has director Vikraman calling the shots. Apart from captain Vijayakanth, ‘Mariyadhai’ has Meena, Meera Jasmine, Ambika and Ramesh Khanna donning various roles. The music for this song will be dealt by Vijay Anthony and the film is being produced by Siva.
‘Mariyadhai’ has a special feature in it in the sense there is a remix song in the film. This seems to be the season of remixes because almost every new film hitting theatres these days has a remix number. The best part is that remix songs are well received by the crowd. ‘Mariyadhai’ has a remix number from the yester film ‘Idhyakkanni’ that had MGR and Radhasaluja as protagonists. The song goes like ‘Inbame Undhan Pear Penmaiyo.....’ to which we can see our beloved captain grooving! The remix song was shot at a harbour in Australia. It believed that to acquire permission for filming in this harbor is seldom possible, but this team not only acquired the permission but has also successfully completed shooting the remix song from this location. No wonder Vijayakanth must have loved to be in this song, because he is lovingly referred to as ‘black’ MGR!

The audio of ‘Pokkisham’ will be released during the second week of April. The five music tracks which have been composed by Sabesh Murali will have a special place in the narration. The songs rather than coming to give a musical relief to the audience will be playing its part in taking the story forward. Padmapriya will give company to the main lead Cheran in ‘Pokkisham’ which will tell the poignant tale of a relentless search for a lost love. The historic and beautiful city of Calcutta is the main place where the story of the film will unfold. The film will be released in May.

The latest to come from the Robot’s stable is that a
song will be shot soon at Hyderabad involving the lead pair which is likely to be Shankar’s signature number. Industry sources aver that this song will be choreographed on lines of Randakka in Anniyan or Azhagana Ratshasi in Mudalvan where aesthetic and creative minds went into work which took care of the minutest details in the frame. The colossal set for this number will be created by Sabu Cyril in which Ash and Boss will be gyrating along with junior artists in expensive attire to the tune of double Oscar winner A R Rahman, sung by Madhushree.

The Pooja of the film will be conducted on Monday. The leading man who is to romance the five heroines in ‘Baana’ is yet to be known.
Well, we will wait till Monday to know who the lucky guy is.

G V Prakash’s bilingual romance

Aanandha Thandavam a movie by Director Gandhi Krishna had the release of its audio some time back. The movie is an in and out romantically inclined story with an equally interesting screenplay with Tamanna and Siddharth in the lead. It is believed that this might prove a good stepping stone for Tamanna.
The Director has adopted the late Writer Sujatha’s story that had been written two decades ago, for which he had got the permission even before the writer’s
demise. G V Prakash’s spill of soulful rhythms is evident all through the album, probably the result of this young composer having got the first opening to score for a full length love story. The Telugu audio is slated for release on 13th March from when the young Tollywood fans can expect some real romantic numbers. The bilingual movie hits the theatres on 27th March.
