Motion Picture Academy invites Rahman

Another proud moment is going to be added to the pages of Rahman’s credits.
The Music Guru of India has been invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, along with 133 other artists and executives to join its organisation. The academy, the board behind Oscar awards, selects distinctive personalities - who made their mark in the theatrical motion pictures - to be the part the Academy’s roster of voting members.
Academy President Sid Ganis extended his hearty welcome to all the highly talented celebrities on their top-ranked board. It is said that these new members will be attending the Academy’s reception at its Fairbanks Centre for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills in September and after which they will become a part of the organisation.
The Academy’s membership would have allowed a maximum of 166 new members in 2009, but as in the previous years, the several branch committees endorsed fewer candidates than were proposed to them. Voting membership in the organization has now held steady at just under 6,000 members since 2003.
We are very happy for you Rahman, to receive this one-of-its-kind offer!

‘Arundhathee’ now in Hindi

It was a mystical magic that engulfed the South audience. People watched it transfixed while it hogged the collections at the Box office. The movie ‘Arundhathee’ fetched high acclaims with its grand special effects woven into a spine chilling storyline. The movie became a huge hit in its original territory, Tollywood; later went on to spread its success in Tamil in the dubbed version. Now it is continuing its journey further north, that is, to Bollywood.
Now, the Hindi audience will get their own version of the movie, which going to be a Hindi remake. The movie was produced by Shyam Prasad Reddy and directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. Now the producer has given the direction responsibility to Rahul Nambiar, the creative director of the original. With the Hindi version being an expansive project, Rahul seems to be quite nervous. While the base is said to be laid, he is deciding on the cast and crew of the movie. Sonu Sood who had played the role of the villain will play the same role in Hindi too. Anushka had efficiently played the protagonist and carried the whole story with her electrifying performance and now it is really a wait-and-watch game as to who will don this striking role.
But hope the Hindi version does enough justice to its original versions and enthrall the Bollywood world.

MJ’s mind is here to stay!

due to a cardiac arrest on June 25. The grandeur of his burial ceremony is something which has never been given to any deceased before. His followers pouring in from across the globe just to bid him, is an obvious example of how his great influence has worked over them.
But the great singer is not leaving this earthly world wholly. His brain is going to be left behind to face an autopsy for further investigations, as his untimely death is still under the scanner. MJ’s family members were told that they either have to wait till they finish the investigation, which will take around three weeks time, or they have to bury him without his brain. His family chose the latter option to leave the brain behind and carry on with the funeral.
The test results will play a crucial role in the criminal investigations into the star's death. It is said that the brain has to sufficiently harden before it can be used for any tests. So the process will take time and the family members didn’t want to delay things any more.
The funeral ceremony will include live performances by various eminent singers; to pay their tribute to the legendary singer. The event will have even more tighter security, where the police personnel will be strict enough to show no sympathy towards those who don’t have proper entry passes.

Gnabagangal Movie Review – A unique love story indeed!!

A poetic ode to memories is what Gnabagangal is all about. The movie based on a real life incident of a friend of Pa Vijay, the movie blends in the struggle of lyricist in Kodambakkam and beautiful true love.
The film starts with Kathiravan(Pa. Vijay) recieving a national award for best lyricist and then going to meet his ex-sweetheart Meera(Sridevika) who is now married to an buisnessman. The memories swing to the past where Kathir is a struggling lyricist and falls in love with a marwadi girl Meera. Fate takes a twist when Meera is married off to a person of her own cast. Meanwhile Kathir goes on to become a successful lyricist. When he wins the medal, he visits Meera to show her his success. What happens in the climax will leave your eyes wet.

Pa. Vijay has done a herculian job with script, screenplay, dialogues, and lyrics and gone on to do it well. Music is scored by James Vick who has come out with some peppy numbers like ‘Unnai Mudiyum’ and ‘Azhage Azhage’. The climax shot for three days in Taj Mahal goes on to become the highlight of the movie.
The scene in which Kathir and Meera meet reminds us of the same kind of scene in Rituparna Gosh’s Raincoat starring Ajay Devgan and Aishwarya.
On the whole Gnabagangal is a worthy tribute from Pa. Vijay to his friend.

Costly Curls

The team of Maathi Yosi is thinking different indeed. The curls of the lead actress Shamu cost the producer a whopping 1 Lakh rupees. Why such a costly hairdo you may ask? It seems the girls character in the movie requires her to have curly hair. The movie is almost complete with only the climax remaining to be shot.

Shammu, an NRI whose native is Neivelli and moved to Chennai last year. She always dreamt of acting in movies and the days when she would share the screen with her matinee idol Kamal Haasan. One day her daydream came true when K.S. Ravikumar gave her a small role in Dasavatharam! K.S.R asked her to get a profile done by a renowned photographer and one day when she was browsing through her own portfolio, Mayilu director spotted her and requested her to show the profile. Now the young lady is acting in her fifth film, Matthi Yosi. Ambasamudiram Ambani has pragmatic Chennai on screens

Why always depict Chennai as a land of innocent villager turning into gangster? It was a long-term irresolvable issue running around every audiences fed-up with clichéd motifs. But, Ambasamudiram Ambani has something more interesting dropped onto the papers.
Says Karunaas, ‘From a very long time, things were really petrifying as Chennai City is always described as a Land of Terror where an innocent villager comes to Chennai seeking for fortune and indeed urged to take up law into his hands. This film is a pure drama about an ordinary man who comes to the maxim city to become a Ambani and rest of the film is about the tribulations and encounters he faces’. Karunaas himself scores music for the film and this is the second time he has been playing lead role.

Actress Nayanthara slammed by newcomers

It’s been non-stop entry of young good looking bubbly actresses from Kerala and they are of course more in numbers today.
Precisely, they’re more onto difference of opinions on selecting roles. But the wonder is that they never want to be alike Nayanthara. Said one of the actresses from Mollywood pairing with Ajith Kumar, ‘Nayanthara was here with a good chance and she spoiled herself by just looking out for skin shows and nowhere she’s now…’ Similarly, one of the recent new entries of previous week’s blockbuster has added that she wouldn’t ever turn towards the side of glamour after witnessing the pathetic scenario of Nayanthara. Looks like every actress from God’s Own Country are so concerned about not picking the traits of Nayanthara, once a bombshell of South Indian Film Industry.

Goa team’s new destination is Langwaki

Oops! The monsoon has really spoiled the filming at ‘Goa’ for Venkat Prabhu and his team. The young filmmaker had started filming and completed more schedules within short period of time.
And now, they’re on the heels of last schedules and wanted to complete it by coming month. But all of sudden, as the climatic conditions turned to be more adverse, they’ve changed their destination to Langwaki, terra firma of around 100 islands in Malaysia. Many filmmakers in tinsel town have gone to those locations for filming. Patently, the spots over there have the similar locales of Goa. Yuvan Shankar Raja is set to perform one song on the screens over the sun kissing beaches of Langwaki. It’s noteworthy that earlier he had appeared for the title song of ‘Saroja’.

Is Jaggubhai a remake of ‘Taken’?

Quite wondering, isn’t? it’s been a non-stop downpour of buzzes rounding up for the upcoming projects in Kollywood.
If we had a news about Ashwin Shekar remaking ‘Eagle Eye’, there’s something more interesting with Director K.S. Ravikumar’s forthcoming film ‘Jaggubhai’. The film starring Sarath Kumar and Shriya Charan in lead roles has been stylishly shot around the exotic locales of foreign land.

According to Director Ravikumar’s statement, it has been stated that Jaggubhai revolves around a lovable affection of father towards his daughter and how he tries safeguarding her. It seems to be more relevant with Hollywood movie ‘Taken’ that’s more off that same genre.
An Ex-serviceman in Internal Security Force is perplexed with his daughter being kidnapped by an unknown group in Latin America. He now rushes to the unknown land and traces them out and brings back his ducky daughter.

Is Ashwin Shekar remaking ‘Eagle Eye’?

S.Ve. Sekar’s son Ashwin Sekar made his debut with ‘Vegam’ a remake of Hollywood film ‘Cellular’.

Right now, he’s busy working on ‘Ninavil Nindraval’ that will soon get completed. But according to the closer sources, it has been revealed that the young lad had dropped himself into a top-charting DVD Stores recently and picked a copy of ‘Eagle Eye’ wanting it so badly for script work.
It’s been more illustrious that we had earlier made the first news about Aswin Shekar remaking ‘Cellular’. If our guesses are right, then Ashwin’s next film would be precisely ‘Eagle Eye’. Maybe, he may opt the title of ‘Netrikan’ or ‘Kazhugu’ – the yesteryear titles of Superstar Rajnikanth’s films.

Sundar C’s new love interest

There’s definitely a remake-remix connection in every Sundar C project. And his next project is no different. After 'Murattu Kaalai', the director-cum-actor is now using another of Rajini’s titles for his next flick. This time, it is the immensely successful comedy, 'Guru Sishyan'.
For the movie, he will be accompanied by Sathyaraj, who plays another hero. And Sundar C’s pair for the film has been finalized, and it will be Hemamalini. The actress, who is awaiting her first release, 'Indira Vizha' with Srikanth, has already completed her work for Jeevan’s 'Naan Avan Illai 2' as well.
