Prabhu Deva’s Ich title to be changed?

It was rumored sometime ago that director Prabhu Deva was not keen on the title Ich for the Jayam Ravi starrer. He has been scouting for a suitable title and in the mean time also neared the completion of the film. The music scores have been almost complete and the audio is expected to be launched during the month of September.

Ich is in the final leg of shooting schedule and a name change is on cards, say sources close to the film unit.

The film has Hansika Motwani playing the female lead and Harris Jayaraj has scored the music.

Kamal Haasan to share the screen with Bollywood star Anil Kapoor

Kamal Haasan and Anil Kapoor will be acting in a film which is to be made in Hindi and Tamil. Anil Kapoor is a popular Hindi actor. Recently he had been in Chennai to participate in a film function. At that time he met Kamal and spoke to him.

During the meet it was decided for both of them to act in a film which is to be made in Tamil and Hindi. Kamal has asked Anil Kapoor to get the story ready. Anil Kapoor is very happy because of this.

Anil Kapoor is very fond of Kamal. He has acted in the remake of the Kamal’s films Salanagai Oli and Devar Magan. He used to tell his colleagues that Kamal is a talented actor and he is an ardent fan of him.

Normally Hindi actors and actresses do not praise the South Indian actors. They only praise big actors like Amitabh Bachchan. But Anil Kapoor was the only actor to praise Kamal boldly. Now he is overjoyed because he had got the opportunity to act with Kamal Haasan. He said that he is proud to act with him.

Padmapriya is a giving a break for homely roles

Padmapriya says that she will not act in stereo typed roles. While speaking about this, she said,” I did homely roles in the films Pokkisham and Thavamai Thavamirundhu. But I cannot continue to act like this.

I am giving a break for such kind of roles. The tribal costume I wore in Pazhassi Raja cannot be worn in any other films. We have to wear costume dresses when we don the role of commercial sex worker or club dancer. I will definitely act in these kinds of glamour roles if I get them.

There is news that there is opposition for South Indian actress in Bollywood. It is not true. Nobody opposed me when I acted in Hindi films. Asin and Trisha are continuing to act in Hindi films. Katrina Kaif who hails from foreign country also acts in Hindi films. Nobody has opposed her.

There is competition in all fields. But it is little more in cinema field. We cannot say that it is objection. I am ready to face any kind of competition. I have the boldness to act in any kind of challenging roles. One thing is that the story should be good or either the role should be good. If neither is there, I will not act in such kind of films.”

Shooting of Yudham Sei completed

Mysskin who had directed Chittram Pesudhadi, Anjathey and Nandhalala is now directing a film titled Yudham Sei. Kalpathi S Agoram is producing this film which has director Cheran in the lead role.

Mysskin has completed the talkie portions and song sequences. Now post production work like dubbing and re-recording is going on..

The director said that he is planning to release the film by end of this month. Cheran, Y G Mahendran, Jayaprakash, Latchmi, Selva, Deepa Shah, E Ramadoss, director Maarimuthu, Yugendaran, Shruthi, Srushti Tango Shankar, Manickavinayagam and Sunil are starring in this film.

Sathya who was an assistant of P C Sriram is handling the camera. Debutant music composer K is composing the music for this film while Action Prakash is in charge of stunts.

Dhanush in a chasing scene

M V Mohan, Appa Rao and T Ramesh Tandra are jointly producing a film titled Utthamaputhiran under the banner Balaji Creations. Dhanush, Genelia, Vivek, K Bhagyaraj and Karunaas are starring in this film.

Mithran R Jawahar is directing this film. While speaking about the film, he said,” Utthamaputhiran will have comedy, action and love like in the films Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Kutty which I have directed. The sensational chasing and fighting sequence was shot in Tirunalveli and Chennai.

When Ashish Vidyarthi and J P comes to know that Dhanush is in love with their girl, both become furious. They call ‘ Naan Kadavul’ Rajendran and asks him to kill Dhanush. How Dhanush escapes from this murder can be seen in the chasing sequence.

Comedy, seriousness and exasperation will be the highlights of the film. Rambo Rajkumar’s protégé Rough Rajashekar has given the stunt trainings. Dhanush, Genelia, Aarthi, Srinath along with other stunt actors have acted in this sequence. The shooting of the film has been completed.”

Meghna says she is an extreme fan of Vadivelu

Meghna Sundar who did the female lead role in the film Kadhal Solla Vandhen says that she will not get sleep until she sees a person. Who is that person? It is our Vadivelu.

She is fanatic fan of Vadivelu. She will not go to sleep without seeing Vadivelu’s comedy. Even if she misses it for a day, she feels that she has lost something.

Meghna while speaking about this said,” I love Vadivelu sir comedies very much. I will not miss even a single comedy by Vadivelu.

After coming back for the shooting I will not go to sleep without watching Vadivelu’s comedy. If I miss his comedy scenes I will feel very miserable. I am an ardent fan of him.

Of all his comedies, I like the comedy scenes in the film Winner. Whenever I see the comedy of this film, I will laugh till my stomach aches.”

Sindhu Samaveli Movie Review

Director Samy is man who made a name for himself touching controversial themes and talking about forbidden relationships. Be it ‘Uyir’ or ‘Mirugam’, Samy was right there evoking mixed response from film-buffs for the content.

Typical to his style is ‘Sindhu Samaveli’. This film too is set in a sensitive theme - that of a girl caught between her husband and her father-in-law. Thankfully the director has not made the script crude and chose to play it down.
A 'fearing' theme it is, but Samy seems to have made it look commercial with catchy cinematography, host of songs and some comedy. The fact that it features all newcomers manages to sustain some interest. Sundar C Babu’s music and camera by Utpal comes to his rescue.
Anbu (Harish) is student in a village school. His mother is a teacher and father Veerasami (Ghajini) works in the army and is posted in Assam. It’s romance for him as he falls in love with Sundari (Anakha), who is elder to him but studies in the same class.
Situation forces his father to return to village after he opts for voluntary retirement, injured in a terrorist attack. His sorrow is doubled when his wife dies of snake bite. Anbu now takes up the task of fulfilling his mom's dream to become a teacher.
He with the permission of his family marries Sundari and lives happily with her for a month before leaving the village for teacher training. Alone at home, Sundari takes care of her father-in-law. But she is forced to enter into a ‘relationship’ with Veerasami. What happens when Anbu comes to know of it forms the crux.
Both Harish and Ghajini do their part well. The complex emotions have been brought out well onscreen by them. But walking away with applause is Anakha. She is right there delivering her best.
The movie principally revolves around three characters and few scenes are exaggerated, testing our patience. The eyesore is also the filmmaker overplaying the relationship at places. In parts, Samy delivers a better job.

AR Murugadoss' Hollywood Dreams

‘Whatever maybe the profession, the earnest dream of every person would be reaching the topmost level. As in my terms, I have greatest dreams of reaching Hollywood’ says A.R. Murugadoss, who has joined hands with Fox Star Studios to produce more Tamil films with his home banner A.R. Murugadoss Productions.

A.R. Murugadoss and 20th Fox Century together will be producing 5-6 films a year as an initial process and will gradually increase its level in latter period.

Interacting with media channels, A.R. Murugadoss said, “Tamil films will no more be restricted to certain boundaries and it will be released all over the World dubbed in various foreign languages and subtitles. Tamil film industry has the best talents and emergence of Fox Star Studios will obviously establish their prominence across the globe.”

When asked whether he will make a Hollywood movie for Fox company, A.R. Murugadoss revealed that he has already prepared himself with few scripts suiting the Hollywood region, somewhat like animal-thriller. But he adds that a perfect technical team has to be set before foraying into this big industry.

Aishwarya refuses $1M deal

Aishwarya Rai has reportedly rejected a $1 Million (Rs. 5 crores) offer by a Hollywood studio to shoot a documentary filmed on her. According to the deal, a foreign crew would follow her for a week and document her personal and professional life.

The offer did not interest the beauty even to the slightest because she believes her privacy is priceless. Despite the team tried to influence the actress for a month Aishwarya was firm and politely rejected the request.

She said she would never let anyone shoot her at home and that what happens within her home are nobody’s business but her own.

In 2004 a British-based author and director Nasreen Munni Kabir filmed a documentary ‘The Inner World and the Outer World of Shahrukh Khan’ based on the actor and probably that might have prompted the Hollywood studio to try for one with Aishwarya Rai.

SRK’s documentary featured his 2004 Temptations concert tour, also his ‘inner world’ of family and daily life and his ‘outer world’ of his work.

Priyadarshan to Introduce More South Indian Actors in B-Town

Priyadarshan is well known for his kind of remaking Malayalam movies in Hindi and now has donned a new task to his part. The filmmaker has decided to introduce more actors from South Indian film industry in Bollywood.

His next Hindi film ‘Bullet Train’ has Malayalam superstar Mohan Lal in lead role and has been holding talks with him for yet another movie. ‘Bullet Train’ will be an edge-seated thriller with more star-casts that includes Bollywood’s most happening actors like Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Kunal Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor, Sunil Shetty with Sameera Reddy and Kangana Ranaut playing female lead roles.

He had previously delineated south Indian actresses Reema Sen, Genelia D’ Souza in great roles and some of the Malayalam comedian actors like Innocent as well.

Vikram & Maniratnam In Venice

The Venice Film Festival began on September 1st and will be on till the 11th. Several films from across the globe are being featured and film personalities being honored during this fest. The director of Raavan (Hindi version) Mani Ratnam was honored with the Best Director Award during this fest.

Accompanying Mani Ratnam were his wife Suhasini and actor Vikram. Both Suhasini and Vikram were also felicitated for their contributions towards Raavan.

Speaking at the event, Mani Ratnam said that Raavan has widened the borders of Hindi cinema and has taken it to be next level.

Director Mani Ratnam was honoured with ‘Jaeger-Le Coultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award’ at the 67th Venice Film Festival on Monday. Director and Jury member Gabriele Salvatores presented the award to Mani Ratnam. The Venice Film Festival (Italian Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica) is the oldest film festival in the world. The festival is being held from September 1 to 11 this year.

With the award Mani Ratnam joins Sylvester Stallone, Agnes Varda, Abbas Kiarostami, and Takeshi Kitano who have "left a mark" on contemporary cinema. After the award ceremony, the festival premiere of ‘Raavanan’ was screened in the Sala Grande.

Announcing this at Cannes in May this year Venice Film Festival director Marco Muller had said: “Mani Ratnam is one of the greatest innovators in contemporary Indian cinema. He helped introduce the auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood. We are very proud to honour the work of the great Indian director Mani Ratnam.”

Mani Ratnam was accompanied by Suhasini Mani Ratnam, and Vikram. The other leading stars of ‘Raavan’, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek who were also to attend the festival had to stay back for personal reasons.

It’s official: ‘Endhiran’ in September

This news may be a relief to many producers who are yet undecided whether to release their films in September. While the ‘Endhiran’ mania was holding the breath of many films big and small ever since the audio launch of the film, there was no confirmed date of release from the makers of ‘Endhiran’.

Some at first said ‘Endhiran’ will be released on September 3 and later they themselves postponed the date. Some even had the news saying the post production and re-recording will take more time and so the film will be a grand Diwali release.

Now it has been officially announced that ‘Endhiran’ will release in September. As the first week has already gone and second week is in front it is all likely ‘Endhiran’ will release either on September 17 or September 24 for sure.

As the D-day has been announced officially you can expect a lot of frenzied action and reaction in Kollywood in the coming few days.

Bale Pandiya Movie Review

Higher hypes and publicities made good waves of expectations prior to release. Designer Siddarth’s debut directorial ‘Bale Pandiya’ boasts of a blend of new thread of storyline set backdrops of usual plot of goodie-baddie conflict.
Siddarth’s treatment of script is quite enjoyable as he brings the film with right mix of action and comedy.
The story of Bale Pandiya goes this way….
Pandiya (Vishnu) finds the best contract killer AKP (Amar) and pleads to assassinate him. First shocked with a crazy approach, AKP and his henchmen ask him to pull out reasons for his drastic decisions. Thus starts his flashback of unlucky misadventures from his birth, which even makes these contract killers quite dumbfounded. On the other end, AKP is on his mission of kidnapping Vaishnavi (Piaa), which turns to be a failure as unlucky Pandiya is besides them. Soon after a point, AKP assures Pandiya about fulfilling his needs and assigns him as a human bomber at the venue of All India Police Conference. Indeed, he offers him a debit card with value of Rs.25Lakhs with the expiry date on 10th of next month (Day to end his life).
Pandiya starts enjoying his life as he carelessly swipes his card letting his family cross its hurdles and then comes across Vaishnavi. They fall in love and Pandiya feels like paradise coming down on Earth, but it’s already Date 10.
Filled with hopes of canceling the assignment, Pandiya takes Vaishnavi to the house of AKP unaware that he and his henchmen are mysteriously killed.
The first half (80mins) keeps going with jolliness as it just carries the establishment of characters. The title song ‘Bale Pandiya’ itself reveals of the protagonist’s character. Certain sequences like ‘Traffic Signal’, ‘First Love Failure’, and Vivek’s arrival at airport are enjoyable. Piaa Bajpai takes on a good screen presence and her costuming is done well. Vishnu has improvised a lot from his previous and his stunts are really appreciable. But, he could yet more spend more efforts on emoting to best. Amar as AKP picks your interest and flashback involving his help for Vishnu is sure to astonish the audiences. Gibran’s look is quite ludicrous and looks like comedy-villain in Old Tamil films. Vivek’s satirical liners like Rs. 1 for Rice and Rs.2 for using Public Toilet wins him applause and not to miss Englishmen introduced Mobile Phone and Tamilians introduced Missed Call.
Post-intermission, there are some lagging sequences as the story turns to be an usual conflict between two politicians and hero’s run of saving his girl from the clutches of baddies. John Vijay is average and Jayaprakash as grey-shaded politician is good.
Cell phone sequence in ambulance and tracing it faintly reminiscences of Rajnikanth’s blindfolded act in ‘Priya’. The stunt sequence during second half has been choreographed neatly. The film could have been well narrated even with a duration of 2hrs (trimming 10 mins each hour of original duration 140mins).
Devan Ekambaram’s musical score is extraordinary and the songs have been pictured well. Especially the song ‘Sirikiren’ and Kangale Kamalayam’ are visual treats.
‘Bale Pandiya’ offers a decent entertainment for its viewers. Stressed out of heavy work, looking better way to chill, walk in with popcorns, sit back and relax.
What works: Screenplay, entertaining factors, comedy, Music, Camera
What doesn’t work: Few logics missing, lengthy duration but bearable, emotionless romance

Priyamani has high expectations on Raktha Charithra

The Telugu film industry is murmuring that after Trisha and Asin, Priyamani has started flattering the Bollywood producers, directors and actors in order to get offers. Priyamani was under the expectation that she would get lots of offers after the release of Raavanan directed by Manirathnam.

But to her misfortune the film bombed at the box office. Priyamani was very upset over this. Currently Priyamani is acting in the film Raktha Charithra which is being made in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages and directed by the famous director Ram Gopal Varma.

This film is to be released next month. Priyamani is now once again under the anticipation that after the release of this film, she might get lot of offers. Priyamani while speaking said,” Now I am able to speak Hindi fluently.

I am able to speak without mistakes. Language is no problem for me. Many are asking me that whether I will shift my residence to Mumbai. I don’t know that how many offers I will get. For time being I don’t have the intention of moving to Mumbai. I will think about it after getting lot of offers.

I love traveling and going to Mumbai is not a big thing. My favourite Bollywood actors are Amir Khan, Salman Khan and Sharukh Khan. I like Aishwarya Rai and Sri Devi very much.

Here actors and actresses are very professional. Aishwarya Rai and Sharukh Khan had acted as brother and sister in the Hindi film Josh but in the film Devdas, they lived as lovers. This is an example that shows their dedication towards their profession.”

Shreya walks out of Mohanlal’s film

Casanova is a Malayalam film which has Mohanlal and Samira Reddy in the lead roles. Shreya was signed for another heroine role. But now she has walked out of the film since she is in Deepa Mehta’s Midnight Children.

When asked Shreya about this, she said,” Lots of actors and actresses are acting in Casanova. I agreed to act because this was a big films. But the shooting did not commence as per schedule. The call sheet given by me was not properly utilized by the crew.

I cannot waste my call sheet when I am getting other offers. Because of this I came out of the film. I have also decided to act in the English film Midnight Children to be directed by Deepa Mehta.

I am also pairing with Jeeva in the Tamil film Roudram. There is truth in the news that I am not cooperating properly in this film. I told them that after completing certain films, I will be shooting for Roudram. That is why the delay.”

Suhani gives importance to studies than acting

Suhani who made her debut in the film Irandu Mugam is waiting for the release of her second film Appavi. Suhani who says that she has got introduction in the film Irandu Mugam has the confidence that she can carve a niche for herself in Tamil cinema.

She gives priority to education than acting. She who had completed her B Com is going to pursue her Business Management course in Chennai and Poona. When asked her why she is doing courses at the same time, she said,” I am going to do MBA in Chennai and a diploma course in Poona.

There will be no continuous shooting for me throughout the year. I will be acting in one or two films in a year. One month is enough for me to study.

I am like a cricket champion. One month is enough for me to prepare for my examinations. I can score good marks. I secured 85% in my B Com examinations. There is no problem for me to do two courses at a time.”

Samy's house attacked

Miscreants attacked the house of director Samy at West K K Nagar in Chennai this morning and damaged his car, reportedly protesting his recently-released 'Sindhu Samaveli', which talks about illicit relationship.

"I have been receiving threatening calls since the day the movie got released. Even my producer Michael Rayappan was flooded with phone calls warning him of dire consequences," the filmmaker said.

Stating that he had the handled an emotional issue in a proper way, Samy said, "even the Regional censor Board had given certification for the film and appreciated it. They instructed me to mute a couple of dialogues, which I obliged".

'Mei Kaan' Is 80% Completed

Very often films are delayed due to the delayed shooting schedules that literally let the producers drenched in troubled waters. But the latest trend is about producers insisting their directors to complete the film faster with best results.

Arjun’s ‘Mei Kaan’ is nowhere an exception as Major Ravi has completed 80% of the film by 50days. According to the sources, the film’s pending works will be done by next 20 days in Chennai. Major portions of the film have been shot in Malaysia and plans are to release the film for Diwali.

The film is produced by S.M. Raja (elder brother of Nic Arts S.S. Chakravarthy) under the banner of ITA Films.

'I Will Make Fox To Stay Back In K-Town' – AR Murugadoss

A.R. Murugadoss together with the officials of Fox Star Studios launched their first project, which is yet to be titled. The film is directed by A.R. Murugadoss and features Vimal and Jai in lead roles. Jackson has been signed as the art director and Thaman will be scoring music.

A.R. Murugadoss assures that unlike many Corporate companies that appeared and vanished in K-town within a short period of time, he will make the Fox Star Studios production to keep itself sustained in K-Town by gaining them more profits.

Double Oscar winner A.R. Rahman kicked off his 'A.R. Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour' at the Nassau Coliseum in New York on June 11, 2010. This tour would span 16 major cities across the world. The organizer’s commitment was to give a 'theatrical experience' in each show utilizing new technologies and so it was in North America in cities like New Jersey, Washington, Chicago and London. The Jai Ho crew hit a roadblock when an accident happened on the sets in Detroit during the initial prep for the show. Though no one was injured seriously, the tour was postponed to a later date.

Now, the news is out that the Jai Ho tour resumes this weekend (September 11) in North America. The dates for the shows in various cities are, Los Angeles (Sep 11th), San Francisco (Sep 12th), Vancouver (Sep 14th), Dallas (Sep 17th), Houston (Sep 18th), Boston (Sep 22nd), Newark (Sep 23rd), Detroit (Sep 25th), Toronto (Sep 26th) and Raleigh (Sep 29th), See you soon North America, Rahman says out loud.

Sudha Chandran – Symbol of Will Power

Despite amputation of one leg, Sudha Chandran has established herself in the film line and got a reputation as an ace dancer and actor.

In fact, Sudha’s triumph over travesty is part of the school syllabus in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.

Dance appears to be her passion, so much so that she has extablished a dance academy in Mumbai, ‘Sudha Chandran Academy of Dance’, which has branches all over Mumbai and Pune. Ravikumar Dang, Sudha’s husband is the executive director of the school.

The actress achieved much more fame and recognition by venturing into the world of films and television.

Over Dress-up
Over dressed is the image that the mention of Sudha Chandran evokes, thanks to the many Hindi serials produced by Ekta Kapoo she has appeared in.She is considered to be one of the more flamboyant stars on Indian television, known for her avant garden sarees, chunk jewellery and designer bindis.

In the Ekta Kapoor produced serial, Kaahin Kissii Roz, she portrayed the character called “Ramola Sikand”(with over dress-up) which became an instant hit.
Ditto on Sun TV’s ‘Kalasam’ in which she played the role of the antagonist Chandramathi and had Ramya Krishnan in the lead role.

She laughs at the inevitable question about her over dressing, “That is just for the serials. It is about being different; one gets noticed and that is important in this business.” The almost foot long earrings, the creativity defying blouses and the in-your-face make up is all for effect”

Inspiration

Sudha has been a real-life inspiration for many what with her fortitude to continue dancing despite having to amputate her right leg following an accident. Sudha Chandran subsequently overcame her disability with the help of a prosthetic ‘Jaipur foot’, becoming one of the most highly acclaimed dancers of the Indian subcontinent.

She is very proud of the fact that she has been able to make a mark, and that she has been able to be an inspiration to people like her. “I was a guest at an event where I saw dancers without two legs dancing on artificial legs,” says Sudha.

She says when she danced with the help of her Jaipur foot she had told the doctors there that one Sudha Chandran was not enough there should be 25 more Sudha Chandrans. “They put a performance with 50 amputees and said, ‘you asked for 25 we are giving you 50′. That was such a wonderful moment.”
She has been living with the Jaipur foot for the last 25 years and it is like another part of her, “I replace it depending on the wear and tear.”

Being a judge in Malayalam TV Reality Show

The actor-dancer is a permanent jury member in Amrita TV’s dance reality show ‘Super Dancer Junior-2,’ besides veteran choreographer Kala Master.

Talking about the reality show, Sudha said, “Often when parents come to register their children at my dance school (Sudha Chandran Academy of Dance) the first question they ask is ‘Can you get my son/daughter on a reality show?’ And that’s even before I get a chance to see the kid dance. I mean, how obtuse is that!” exclaims Sudha.

Future Projects
I will be soon seen in the Tamil film Jayam Ravi starred ‘Aadhi Bhagavan’ directed by Ameer. Also I would love to act in more Malayalam films. I am such a big fan of Malayalam cinema and love watching Mohanlal , Mammooty, and Jayaram too.

Kaavalan To Release For Diwali

Good news for all Vijay fans. Vijay’s 51st film “Kaavalan is all set to be released for this Diwali. As per sourcesKaavalan is in the heels of completion and the producers are planning to release the film for this Diwali.

Recently the scenes involving Vijay and Asin were shot in the campus of VIT College in Vellore. According to the sources, it has been revealed that filmmaker – producer Sakthi Chidambaram may acquire the rights of this film and release it under his banner of Cinema Paradise.

Vidhyasagar has scored music for this film and his previous albums with Vijay (Thirumalai, Ghilli and Kuruvi) have been chartbusters. The film also features Raj Kiran and Roja in vital roles with Vadivelu taking care of comedy portions.
