Who will replace Vijay in ‘3 Idiots’ remake?

Now that it is almost sure that Vijay will not be part of the Tamil remake of ‘3 Idiots’, directed by Shankar, a guessing game is on in Kollywood as to who would replace the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’?

While some say that Shankar has shortlisted a couple of young actors and would choose one among them, others say the director is not in a hurry and the ‘differences’ with Vijay could be sorted out.

“Shankar is a cool person who will rise like a phoenix by crossing all hurdles. Remember his last venture ‘Endhiran’ too was changed hands from Kamal Haasan to Shah Rukh Khan to Rajinikanth,” sources close to the director say.

They also recall that when the original producers of ‘Endhiran’ suffered from a financial crunch, Shankar was smart enough to convince Sun Pictures to acquire the project and to produce it in a whopping budget.

As the auteur was close on the process of completing the script work of ‘Vedam’ (original version of ‘Vaanam’), the situation was completely different as the 5 characters come together in a different place. But it was at that point of time, when Mumbai 26/11 attack happened. Instantly, his ideation of joining these characters under the web of terrorist attack in a hospital originated. ‘Vaanam’ is reported to have some changes in the film including couple of duets, some additional comedy tracks and few more ingredients.

Gautham Menon’s romantic tale, ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ which is now being made in Hindi has hit a speed breaker. The movie which started with Pateek Babar and Amy Jackson was in good spirits until Amy Jackson threw a spoke in the wheel.

Our sources say that Gautham Menon had organized a workshop for the heroine Amy Jackson to familiarize with the story, the Indian feel and other requirements of the acting part. It happened that one day the work shop session could not start in time and the Liverpool girl was agitated.

Amy Jackson tried to contact the director Gautham Menon to inform about the delay and Gautham could not be contacted. Gautham could have been busy and could not take the calls from Amy.

Stirred up further, Amy Jackson flew back to England leaving the training unit baffled. We have seen tantrums thrown by local actors for inappropriate reasons but seeing it from an imported star is new. Wish to know how Gautham has taken the whole episode.

Amala Paul says that everyone calls her Myna

Amala Paul the heroine of the hit film Myna said, “I saw the film Myna with the audience in Devi theatre. After the film was over the audience identified me and called me Myna. I was so happy when they called me by this name. All this is like a dream to me.

My father and mother never wanted me to act. Somehow I have continuously convinced them and got the permission to act. I have acted in five films in a year of which three was in Tamil and two was in Telugu. I am currently studying second year communication course in St Theresa’s college in Cochin.

I had scored good marks in plus 2. I could have studied engineering course but because I had liking for arts, I joined communication course. With regard to the experiences in the film Myna I should say it was very thrilling. Prabhu Solomon is a fantastic director. It was very thrilling when we were in shooting in the forest area in Munnar.

Many are asking me whether I can speak Tamil. I did not learn Tamil now. Since I had acted earlier in Tamil films I was able to learn Tamil by speaking to unit friends. I have been signed for three more Tamil films. One of the films has Vikram in the lead role. There is a question because there was a controversy since I had acted in the role of a daughter-in –law seducing the father-in-law. I wish to say that I am an actress.

I had acted according to the role and I have got appreciation for this. That is enough for me. With regard to my slimness I will exercise daily if I am in my house. Apart from this I don’t take any special effort. I eat lot and sleep lot. When I was studying in the school, my friends used to say that I was looking beautiful and so I can act in films.

Because of this I became a model. In the third month of modeling I got the opportunity to act. Some are asking me what the glamour in me is is. I think it is my eyes and my smile. Many of them like these both. I will give you a tip to look beautiful, always be happy and smile.”

Cops oppose anticipatory bail to Vanitha

The Maduravoyal Police have opposed the anticipatory bail application filed by actress Vanitha, daughter of veteran Vijayakumar, in a criminal case against her.

According to Inspector of Maduravoyal Police Station V Tamilvanan, Vanitha had used abusive language against her father and also attacked him. “Since the case is in the preliminary stage, she may threaten witnesses if given bail,” he said.

The anticipatory bail application should be dismissed, the Police officer said, adding that investigation is still on and some more witnesses has to be examined.

Vanitha and Vijayakumar have been trading charges against each other ever since the actress’s husband Anandrajan was arrested last week following a complaint by Vijayakumar.

While Vijayakumar alleged that Vanitha and Anandarajan had assaulted him, Vanitha charged her father and other relatives with planning conspiracy against her, with an eye on property.

Manmadhan Ambu on Dec. 17

The much expected release date of the Kamal romcom ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ has been announced. Accordingly the film will release on December 17 as a Christmas treat.

The pink romantic comedy starring Kamal, Trisha, Sangeetha and Madhavan had a blasting audio launch in Singapore a couple of weeks ago. The audio is a hit particularly the ‘Neelavaanam’ song written and sung by Kamal himself.

As the film is releasing on December 17, the only concern of Kamal fans now is the inadequate time for a grand publicity for their idol’s film.

But the mega telecast of ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ on television over a period of three days should satisfy them a bit and help the film in a big way before release.

Suriya Injured

Fascination for taking risks has been Suriya’s USP. He has always been inquisitive over performing his stunts taking risks. The actor was vigorously shooting for a fight sequence in the backdrops of Binny Mills for ‘7aam Arivu’. Unfortunately, he sprained his ankles and couldn’t go ahead on his feet. Apparently, he was rushed for medical assistance and doctors have advised him for a 3-day bed rest.

In the past, the actor was into similar scenarios while shooting for ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ (First 2 takes of the opening shot were done by Suriya) and ‘Ghajini’. Before a couple of months Shruthi Haasan was injured while shooting a stunt sequence for ‘7aam Arivu’. Their earnest efforts for perfection will surely yield best results.

Get well soon Suriya.

Priyamani Well Known Face in South Films Industries

It is to be mentioned that though Priyamani is a well known face in the South, she has not done many films in Tamil. While Telugu and Kannada films remain her prominent domain, Priyamani also wants to be a part of good Tamil movies in the future. The ‘Raavanan’ girl is now keeping her hopes pinned on ‘Raktha Charitram’.
Though Priyamani is aware of the fact that it is Suriya and Vivek Oberoi who are the lead characters in ‘Raktha Charitram’, her role as Suriya’s love interest is also very important for the film’s progress, says she. In fact it is Bhavani (played by Priyamani) who encourages and supports the character of Suriya at every stage of the story. Whether or not the audience will like her in the upcoming Tamil flick is a question that only time can answer.

Cheran's Justification of Hollywood and World Cinema Remakes

It was a ludicrous statement marked by Cheran as the filmmaker came up with the attempts of trivializing the remake factors. It was during a special session as filmmakers SP Jananathan, Cheran, Sasikumar, Samuthirakani, Mysskin and others gathered for an interaction session.

During the session, Cheran said, “I am wondering why people are so fanatic about criticizing remake of films. ‘Nandhalala’ is not a remake of ‘Kikujiro’, but an inspiration. The cell phones were invented by Japan and more gadgets by USA. Aren’t we using them for our daily purposes?”

Ever since the reviews were published in favor of ‘Nandhalala’, Mysskin become overconfident and uttered that he would dedicate the film ‘Nandhalala’ to Japanese filmmaker Takeshi Kitano (maker of ‘Kikujiro’) and wants to screen the film for him.

Well Cheran must be as prepared with such advocacies as his yesteryear films were inspired from foreign films – Autograph (Italian-French movie Al di là delle nuvole), Thavamai Thavamirundhu (Cinema Paradiso).
