Sunaina who is acting in Thiruthani said," I am donning homely roles in Tamil and have earned a good name. I have not acted in glamour roles. That does not mean that I will not act in glamour roles.

I am of the opinion that there should be beauty in glamour. Before acting in a Tamil film, I have acted in a Telugu film before acting in a Tamil film.

I did homely role in this film. But the people who have released this film in Chennai have shown my pictures in the posters glamorously.

When I heard this I was a bit upset. I think they are trying to spoil my image. For the first time I have donned a comedy role in Thiruthani. The film Kadhirvel in which I have donned the female lead role is going to be released soon. I will retain the good name that I have earned in Tamil cinema."

‘Fashion’: Trisha in or out?

Even as there are strong claims that Trisha would play the lead role in the Tamil remake of Hindi hit ‘Fashion’, there are some media reports which quote the actress saying that she was not doing the film.

“I am not doing the remake of Fashion,” Trisha reportedly said, adding that she also had no plans to act in Hindi movies. Remember she made her Bollywood debut with Priyadarshan’s ‘Katha Meetha’ recently.

Currently, Trisha is busy with ‘Mankatha’, Thala Ajith’s 50th movie and ‘Theen Maar’, a Telugu film opposite Pawan Kalyan. “Both are exciting projects and I am happy about being part of them,” she says.

Explaining as to why she isn’t not so keen on signing new projects, Trisha says, “Taking it a bit slow because I want to be excited with the project. I will sure announce my next film, when I sign it.”

Kamal Haasan Turns James Bond

The next time you see a James Bond-style car on a Chennai road, Kamal Haasan could be sitting inside, for the Ulaga Nayagan has purchased a latest model car with state-of-the-art features.

It was Audi A8 L, which was introduced by the German car maker in India only recently and the actor was one of the early birds to buy it. The car is Audi’s flagship model with innovative features.

White in colour, Kamal’s new car is loaded with James Bondesque features, including a latest inbuilt security system which can protect the car from an attack or accident. “It is no doubt a future vehicle,” say sources.

On the acting front, Kamal is gearing up for his next movie, which is to be directed by Selvaraghavan. With Sonakshi being roped in recently as the heroine, other things will get final shape soon, sources add.

Director Vikraman ilamai Naatkal New Tamil Movie Launchh

Director Vikraman, known for family sentiment films like Pudhu Vasantham, Vaanatha Pola, and Sooryavamsam has announced his next film after a long wait.

It will be a big budget bilingual film produced simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. In Tamil the movie is titled ‘Ilamai Naatkal’. The film is about the love, friendship and their pain and pleasure in the lives of teens.

Apart from the cameraman Kicha of ‘Kummalam’ and ‘Kandakottai’, director Vikraman will be introducing new technicians in many departments.

Music will be by debutante Paulraj who was a key board player to many leading music directors. The editor and art director will also be debutants according to Vikraman. The final selection of the cast and crew is in progress now.

The new film will begin shooting in April and it will happen in places like Chennai, New Delhi, Agra, Punjab, Chandigarh and Jaisalmer. For the song sequences the team will go to Norway and Iceland.

‘Ilamai Naatkal’ is written and directed by Vikraman for producer KS Rajan. The film’s tentative release month is September, 2011.

Who is Suriya’s pair in Matraan?

Director KV Anand and Suriya are coming together once again with the film Matraan and everything about the film has been finalized except for the heroine. The right heroine material seems to be eluding the team for they have been trying to finalize on one but unable to. It is said that Tapasee Pannu, Samantha and Kajal Agarwal are those heroines who have been short listed but the hunt is still going on.

Earlier there was news that Sonakshi Sinha was being considered but there was no more news about that speculation. The shooting will start by April once Suriya completes his work for 7am Arivu and we hope the director rounds off to a deserving heroine by then. Vikram to Become Dr. Vikram

Looks like the Tamil tinsel town and its citizens are surely going places. The University of Milan, Italy, has decided to confer an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts on ‘Cheeyan’ Vikram.

The actor himself disclosed this on Wednesday, while inaugurating the annual national inter-college cultural festival at SRM University in Kattankulathur, whose name too is Milan.

“This is a pure coincidence. This is the first time I am making this announcement in public and I am happy to do that at Milan,” Vikram said, even as students welcomed it with a warm applause.

When a student posed a question on whether he was interested in entering politics, Vikram said in a lighter vein, “I do not know how to wear a dhoti. I will think of politics after I start wearing a dhoti with out a belt.”

Music legend Balamuralikrishna also spoke. The three day festival would have participation of over 7,000 students from 200 leading univercities and colleges of Engineering and Technology, Arts and Science, Medical, Paramedical and Management colleges across the country.

'Money Is Not My Preference' – Hansika Motwani

South India’s most sensuous actress Hansika Motwani has large group of fans following her much before she could make her debut in Kollywood. The actress is now simultaneously working on ‘Engeyum Kadhal’, ‘Maapillai’ and ‘Velayudham’.

Recently there were rumors that Hansika Motwani is refusing more offers in Kollywood and prefers more Telugu movie merely because she is nearly paid Rs.1Crore as remuneration. Soon as the news reached Hansika, the actress called for a clarification saying that money hasn’t been preference always. Adding more to explanation, she says, “Right now I have plenty of Tamil movies lined up for release and I can select other scripts based on its results and I don’t want hurry up and end up with turmoil.”

The actress has completed working on ‘Engeyum Kadhal’ and few portions are left with ‘Maapillai’ while more sequences involving her and Vijay are to be shot for ‘Velayudham’.

Azhagar Saamiyin Kuthirai Is Ready For Release

Filmmaker Susindran is here to prove that there is nothing to do with star values, but the script and way of presentation. Having wielded megaphone for A-league star like Karthi, Susindran has completed working on ‘Azhagar Saamiyin Kuthirai’ that has ‘Vennila Kabadi Kulu’ fame Appukutty and Saranya Mohan in lead roles.

Maestro Ilayaraja has given a word of assurance to Susindran that he will render his best with background score and songs. The film’s shooting was recently completed and producer P Madhan of Escape Artists Motion Pictures is planning to release the movie shortly by next month.

Newcomer Eshwar is handling cinematography while Rajeevan’s assistant Jayachandran makes his debut as art director.

Venu Aravind Completes 'Sabaash Sariyaana Potti'

Small Screen actor Venu Aravind makes his debut directorial with ‘Sabaash Sariyaana Potti’. The actor-filmmaker has managed to complete the movie within short span of time. With few shots pending to be filmed, the film’s music launch will be held on March 16.

The audio will be launched by R.K. Selvamani and Abhirami Ramanathan along with director Rajakumaran. Famous personalities like Radhika Sarathkumar, Devayani, filmmakers Vasanth and Vetrimaaran will be present releasing one song each from the album.

SAC’s trademark blistering political dialogues in the film are already a talking point for many. Moreover politically and socially conscious actors Sathyaraj and Seeman play important characters in ‘Sattapadi Kutram’.

All those make the SAC film a hot one. Sources say if Jayalalithaa agrees to come for the event then Vijay and director Shankar will receive the first CD from the former chief minister.

Shah Rukh & Leonardo to play Don & Cop

The movie buffs had been excited to know the coming together of two screen icons – Shah Rukh Khan and Leonardo Di Caprio – in Paul Schrader’s Indo-Hollywood venture ‘Xtrme City’. Now here’s what our birdies got on hand of late…. It is said that in the film SRK will be playing a Don while Leonardo will feature in a cop’s role. According to the film’s scriptwriter Mushtaq Shiekh, ‘Xtrme City’ is a cross-cultural thriller designed for both Bollywood and Hollywood. He feels that if things fall in places then the film will be an attempt at a true global entertainment. Talking about the film’s story to sources, Mushtaq revealed that it’s about an Indian (Shah Rukh) and an American (Leo) from radically different worlds, who both served in the UN peacekeeping force in Somalia during the 90's. The American saves the Indian's life; in the aftermath they become indebted to each other then go their own separate ways. The American becomes a cop in New York, the Indian a ‘bhai’ (similar to 'don' in Hindi) in Mumbai. Many years later the American has a burdensome family obligation, which compels him to return to India to seek help from the Indian, but becomes deeper and deeper drawn into an alien world. Adding that the story has a very emotional essence Mushtaq said, "This is a pre-dominantly desi concept that to my knowledge has never been played out before on the screen, in true emotional terms, between an Indian and a foreigner, certainly never been attempted on a top tier international icon star level." 'Xtrme City' will be produced under SRK’s banner Red Chillies and legendary filmmaker-actor Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions. The film’s shooting is expected to start its shoot next year.

Jiiva at Police Commissioner’s office

Just before few moments, actor Jiiva was there at Chennai Police Commissioner's Office to lodge complaint on ‘Singam Puli’ piracy. The actor was busy shooting for ‘Nanban’ at Dehradun when he heard the news about ‘Singam Puli’ piracy over online and DVDs. Soon after completing his first schedule, he rushed down to Chennai to visit police commissioner to take necessary action.

‘Singam Puli’ released on last Friday is witnessing good results at the box office. As per trade reports, the film had a good opening across all centres and producers are expecting for same results in weeks to come.

Srikanth's sacrifice for Nanban!

‘Vettai Mannan’ will be released in Tamil,Telugu and Hindi

Silambarasan was supposed to start shooting for the ‘Vettai Mannan’ before few days, but still the project is pending to take off. The film is produced by SS Chakravarthy under the banner of Nic Arts and he was supposed to produce Silambarasan’s ‘Valiban’ that didn’t take off due to some reasons. The film ‘Vettai Mannan’ will be directed by newcomer Nelson, who has been Silambarasan’s associate.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has started working on songs and he is likely coming up with some nice tunes. He has already earned thundering response for the song ‘Evandi Una Pethan’ in ‘Vaanam’. ‘Vettai Mannan’ is a big budget movie and that is likely to take off once SS Chakravarthy completes shooting for his present film ’18 Vayasu’ starring Johnny of ‘Renigunta’ in lead role.

‘Vettai Mannan’ will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi with three hot actresses likely to be signed for the filmVettai Mannan is an action-oriented film, where Simbu plays the role of a gangster. It also features actor Jai in the key role. The movie has three heroines and one of them will be a foreigner.

So far in almost every film we have seen the hero’s introduction scene in an action sequence. If taken in Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s career he almost appeared with the same sequences and in his latest release Kaavalan too he had done the same.

But in his forthcoming film Velayudham it will be a complete different introduction of Vijay and director Jayam Raja has designed it in a funny way. The scene goes this way Vijay will pull the chain to stop the train in which he is traveling to Chennai. And the Ticket Collector comes to the place where Vijay sits and demands him to pay the penalty money or else he warns him to get off the train. Immediately, the people of his village touches the foot of the TC by saying that they will be paying the penalty amount on behalf of Vijay, “Please don’t let him back to our town’.

Shaam the tough cop in Thillalangadi is back with a new movie titled ‘6’. Interestingly this project will have the actor in 3 different roles and all scenes will be shot within a span of 6 months. Director Durai will wield the megaphone for this one while Anthony will take care of the editing. Srikanth Deva will be providing the musical backing for ’6′.

Shaam who gave us a real ‘kick’ with his tough cop image in Thillalangadi (a remake of the Telugu film Kick) has also plans of entering Bollywood with star actor Salman Khan soon, as Thillalangadi the movie is being planned for a Hindi remake too.

Maappillai audio launch on March 11

Is Dhanush’s Maappillai audio going to be released this Friday ( March 11) ?

The buzz is that the producers of the film are planning to launch the audio at function. The film has music by Mani Sharma.

Maappillai is directed by Suraj, and has Dhanush, Hansika Motwani, Vivek and Manisha Koirala in the lead roles. The film, a remake of Dhanush’s father-in-law Rajinikanth’s 1989 starrer of the same name, is complete and ready for release.

Maappillai is being marketed by Sun Pictures and is likely to release on April 15 for Vishu.

The family entertainer will be one of the big summer releases of 2011.

Sonakshi confirmed for Kamal Haasan film

Few days ago we reported that, Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha was in two minds as to whether she should accept an offer to act with Kamal Haasan or not… Well, now she has agreed to do the project signing on dotted line.

In this Selvaraghavan directed film Sonakshi Sinha will play the wife of Kamal and she will sport two dissimilar looks –Indian and Western. She has given 45 days for the film.

The darling daughter of Shatrughan Sinha says she grew up watching Kamal’s movies like ‘Sadma’, ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’, ‘Appu Raja’ and ‘Chachi 420’ and is super excited to share the screen with the legend. "I'm happy that an actor of his caliber has noticed my performance” remarked the latest Bollywood sensation.

Buzz says the film is an Indian adaptation of the 2001 psychological thriller Hannibal starring Anthony Hopkins and Julianne Moore. The film ill begin with a long schedule in London this month. Both Kamal Haasan and Sonakshi will be there.

Hero Aashi Injured Aravan sets

In the recent times many stars are getting injured on the sets in bringing the best of the best for each and very shot.

Latest young actor who got injured is Aadhi on the sets of Aravan. He got injured while performing a risky action sequence at Melur near Madurai just two days ago. The scene is designed in a way that Aadhi has to jump from a five feet palm tree and he decided to jump by not letting a body double to function as the tool of him. Director Vasanth Balan too gave his nod for doing the stunt and within no time he fell down from the tree.

He suffered from serious injuries on hands and legs along with other body parts will over flowing blood. Aadhi was immediately rushed to hospital for the first aid and the doctors advised him to take a week days rest. With this incident taking place suddenly the shooting was stalled for a week days as Aadhi can’t make himself to the location.

If recalled, last week it was actor Vidharth of Mynaa fame, who got injured on the sets of AVM productions film Mudhal Idam.

Kamal Haasan has purchased the latest Audi A8 L, the flagship model sedan introduced into the Indian market by the German car maker in February 2011. Audi's latest dream machine A8L is fitted with James Bondesque features, and has inbuilt security and can protect itself from an attack.

Vadivelu hits a road block

Even the arrival of young comedians like Santhanam, Karunas, Ganja Karuppu has not diminished the popularity of Vadivelu to any extent. The veteran is as busy as ever. At the same time Vadivelu is also not ready to kill his hero dreams.

Although his second film as a hero 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan' was a miserable flop, Vadivelu had no second thoughts to start his third film as a hero calling it 'Ulagam'. When the film was officially announced a few months ago the industry went berserk. The film's producer, director Adam Bawa said 'Ulagam' will be a multilingual film and its production budget will match any super star film.

He also said Vadivelu will have 25 different get ups and his acts will be a milestone in Tamil cinema. All these build ups have now hit a road block. According to sources Vadivelu who gets involved in all the aspects of the film wants his name in the credit as a screen play writer also. Moreover he has miffed the director by unilaterally changing the looks of 10 get ups the director had visualized.

So everything has been put on hold for the moment. Whether this break is only a temporary road block of a permanent dead end we don’t know.

Vikram’s next from April 6

2011 could be a big year for Vikram and his fans for the actor is working non-stop. Even as on the verge of completing his film with director Vijay, the ‘Cheeyan’ is getting ready to start his next venture.

To be directed by Suseendran of ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’ and ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ fame, the movie will go on floors on April 6. “It will be a racy action entertainer- a real treat for Vikram fans,” sources maintain.

Suseendran has completed his forthcoming film ‘Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai’ and is at present busy with the ground work for the Vikram starrer. In the meantime, the actor too is gearing up for the movie.

Meanwhile, the Vikram-Vijay movie, tentatively titled ‘Dheivamagan’ or ‘Pitha’, has Vikram in a different get-up. “This is the reason behind the actor not attending any public functions in the recent past.”

Charmi returns as a beautiful ghost

Charmi was last seen in 'Laadam' directed by Prabhu Solomon. The film was also dubbed in Telugu hoping her popularity in Andhra will fetch some revenue. There was no news about Charmi after that.

Now the glamour bombshell is coming back to Kollywood through her latest Telugu film 'Mangala' that released in March. The interesting part is that Charmi will herself be the producer of the Tamil dubbed version and also distribute the film in the Tamil Nadu market.

'Mangala' is a suspense horror thriller in which Charmi plays a ghost. She hopes that the Tamil audience will like the beautiful ghost and also reward her decision of becoming an entrepreneur.

Bin Laden in ‘Mankatha’

No serious reference to the al-Qaeda leader. But a song whose starting lines have his name has been recorded recently for ‘Mankatha’, the 50th film of Ajith directed by Venkat Prabhu.

The ‘Va da…Bin Lada…’ number composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja was crooned by Krish and Suchitra and the output was excellent, a source close to the unit tells us.

“It was a romantic number to be shot on Ajith and Trisha. The song will be one of the highlights of the film, for Yuvan has come out with rocking music with the voices of Krish and Suchitra adding to it,” the sources says.

Giving more one more update on the project, the source adds: “Most part of the shoot is over and Venkat Prabhu is gearing up to release the film on May 1, the birthday of Thala.” ‘Mankatha’ is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies.

Vidharth injured in shooting

Mynaa fame Vidharth has been injured on the sets of his next flick 'Mudhal Idam'. The incident took place when the actor is performing a fast dance movement for a song, while he is performing he falling on to the ground and his leg too got fractured.

He was admitted in the hospital and the doctors advised him to take complete rest until the fracture heals. 'Mudhal Idam' was directed by debutant director R.Kumuran and it is produced by AVM studios which the 175th production film.

Latest updates on 'Nanban'

Shnakar's 'Nanban', the remake of '3 Idiots' is currently shooting the campus scenes in the FRI (Forest Reserve Institute). The FRI looks so much like London. Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth will sport two different looks in the film.

The actor Srikanth says that "He is glad to work with a wonderful team. He can't stop praising Shankar. Shankar got a serious face but manages to make us laugh. And Vijay and Jeeva is wonderful co-stars".

Currently the unit is planning to shoot the song "All is Well". Harris Jayaraj has come out with sum different tunes in the song. Shobi master is choreographing the song and Manoj is handling the camera.

Vaanam audio postponed to 15th March

The Vaanam audio launch which was expected to release on March 6th, 2011 this Sunday has now been postponed due to elections coming up. Simbu revealed the news himself to us, “The sudden election announcements have made us take some quick decisions.We have now postponed the Vaanam’s audio release to the 15th of March.” Fans need not be disheartened as the actor will make up for the cause. STR further added, “Don’t worry people I have a huge surprise in store for you but you will have to hang on for a day or 2”
Now that the movie has been acquired by Dhayanidhi Azhagiri Cloud Nine Movies it is said that the delay is partly because the distributors need some time to publicize and promote the flick, with newspaper ads already in circulation.

A Different Introduction for Vijay in Velayudham?

Actor Vijay might have appeared so far in action packed sequences as his opening sequence that includes his recent release ‘Kaavalan’. But he is likely to get a changeover with ‘Velayudham’. Accordingly Jayam Raja seems to have crafted a funny opening for Vijay that involves him pulling chain to stop the train moving to Chennai. Apparently we have Ticket Collector demanding for a Fine Money or else threaten him get off the train.

Immediately, the people from his town side fall on TC’s feet picking out their money and paying fine money for his sake saying, “Please don’t let him back to our town’.

So funny, isn’t? But we will have to wait and see whether the scene is finalized as it is yet to be shot.

due to some ‘Kata Panchyat’ issues, laced with songs set in the countryside, plus temple festival ‘Thiruvizha’ songs mix it with rural slapstick comedy and local tea shop characters and finally a bloody climax.
Recently films like Mayandi Kudumbathar, Vamsam, Nellu and Thenmeruku Paravakattu falling under ‘family-village’ seems to have worked.
These films are not for Chennai city multiplex audiences and are targeted at single screens in rural areas. They have a faithful ‘family’ audiences and if they are made on a budget between Rs 4 to 5 crore are safe bets.
On March 18, Rasu Madhuvaran is coming out with his family saga cum tearjerker Muthukku Muthaga.
It has Vikranth, Harish, Oviya, Monica, Ilavarasu and above all Saranya Ponvannan in the all-important mother’s role.
Those who saw a special screening say it will work big time and ideal for B & C audiences.
Like his earlier films, the director Rasu Madhuvaran has chosen another emotional potboiler script for Muthukku Muthaga.
