Sneak Look Into 'Velayudham' Songs

The album opens with ‘Rathathin Rathamay’, which is expected to be the title song. Usually, it is Shankar Mahadevan crooning the title song for Vijay’s films, but this time Haricharan picks up his turn with Madhumitha on accompaniment. Following this track is – ‘Molachu Moonu’ is a song that is rendered by Prasanna and Supriya Joshi. ‘Chillax’ brings Karthik and Charulatha Mani together and this is a peppy romantic number.

Sangeetha Rajeswharan will send the listeners in soothing moments with her melodious number titled ‘Mayam Seidhayo’. Vijay Anthony takes up couple of songs ‘Vela Vela’, which sounds like a theme song and another one is ‘Sonna Puriyadhu’.

While Mark shares the track with the music director in ‘Vela Vela’, it’s Veera Shankar keeping company with him in other track.

Will 'Ramana' Go to Bollywood?

Sources say that Bollywood actors wants to use the anti corruption wave in their films. Many of the Bollywood heroes wanted to remake the Tamil film Ramana which had Vijayakanth in the lead role. This film was directed by A R Murugadoss. The top actors of Bollywood have seen the film Ramana. Murugadoss while speaking said, “After remaking Ghajini in Hindi I wanted to remake Ramana in Hindi. But that did not materialize. After the release of Surya starrer Ezham Arivu I am doing a film with Vijay. After I will be joining hands with Akshay in a Hindi film.”

Kandein Kadhalai has been dubbed in Telugu as Priya Priyathama and the film is due to be released soon. This film’s audio launch happened recently in Hyderabad with its heroine Tamannah participating in the event and releasing the audio CD.

Vikram supports Anna

Top stars are making a beeline to offer their support to social activist Anna Hazare, who is on an indefinite fast pressing for a Jan Lokpal. After Superstar Rajinikanth, Suriya and Vijay, Friday was the turn of Vikram.

Talking to journalists at the World Food and Nutrition Day celebrations organised by Stella Maris College, the Chiyaan said he salutes Anna Hazare for his fight against corruption at this age.

"I consider him as a hero. He is an example for the entire country. From elders to youngsters, everyone is following his path to wage a war against corruption in a peaceful way," the actor said.

While Vijay personally visited Anna in New Delhi and offered his support, Suriya, along with other popular personalities of Tamil cinema, took part in a hunger strike in support of the Gandhian. And Superstar Rajinikanth came out with a statement, extending his support to Anna.

'Vedi' in Thoothukudi

The 'Vedi' unit is currently shooting in Thoothukudi which will go on for two days after which they will return to Chennai for about a day's work and then leave to South Africa on September 3. IG had earlier reported that the team will be shooting in exotic and never-seen-before locales in South Africa.

It is said that these scenes that are being shot at Thoothukudi are the most crucial ones from the film.

After the South Africa schedule, the shooting of 'Vedi' will be wrapped! Following which post-production work will take place at a rapid pace as the movie is gearing up for a Diwali release.

'Vedi' is directed by Prabhu Deva and has Vishal and Sameera Reddy in the roles, with music by Vijay Antony. It is said that Vishal and Sameera share a great on-screen chemistry in this action packed thriller.

'Karikalan': One schedule over

What's the latest update on 'Karikalan', a period film featuring Vikram in the lead role? Well, we'll tell it to you. One schedule of the project has been completed and the cast and crew are currently heading for the second schedule.

"The first schedule was shot entirely in the deep jungles of Thalakonam where some important scenes featuring Vikram were canned. Director L I Kannan, an expert in special effects, is planning a visual extravaganza with Karikalan," sources say.

For those in need of a litte intro about Kannan, he was in-charge of visual effects in some of the much talked about films like 'Enthiran', 'Eeram' and 'Anniyan'. "So he is infusing state-of-the-art technology in Karikalan," sources in the know further add.

Meanwhile, buzz is that Vikram will have three heroines in this film, Zarine Khan, Mithra Kurien and Radhika Apte. The Chiyaan is playing a king, who is a great warrior too, in this movie produced by Silver Line Film Factory.

Anbulla Kamal

The Malayalam film Four Friends, which starred Jayasurya, Meera Jasmine, Kunchako Boban and Jayaram, will soon release in Tamil as Anbulla Kamal. Interestingly, Kamal Haasan had done a guest role in this film and hence the title.
The film did good business in Kerala and the makers hope to cash in on Kamal’s presence in Tamil Nadu as well. Anbulla Kamal is directed by Saji Surendran with music by M. Jayachandran. Anil Nair is the cinematographer and Manoj is the editor of this film.

Ilaiyaraja's special act for Nayanthara

Ilaiyaraja has composed the music for Nayanthara's swansong  Sri Rama Rajyam with Telugu star, Balakrishna. For this film Isaignani has composed as many as 14 songs! The maestro has made it a habit to work only on projects that he feels passionate about and this film based on one of India's great epics, the Ramayana seems to have prompted him to exercise his musical genius like never before.
Nayan plays Sita in the film. She is said to have buried herself in the character and put her heart and soul into it as this will be her last outing on the silver screen. Studio Green drops Mankatha

Although today's newspaper advertisements of 'Mankatha' had come stating Studio Green will release it, the banner is now dropped from releasing this biggie!


Dhayanidhi Alagiri, producer of this multi-starrer, tweeted stating, "Mankatha will release on August 31. But it's not releasing under Studio Green's banner! The ads have come under Studio Green's banner today; we couldn't remove it before the cut off time in the newspapers".

Studio Green's head Gnanavel Raja confirmed to a few media houses that Studio Green will not be releasing this much-expected film but did not elaborate on the reasons. A few birdies say that Sun Pictures is keen on releasing 'Mankatha', handling the distribution and marketing.

After Rajini its Suriya

After Superstar Rajini's declaration  of support for Anna Hazare and his India Against Corruption movement (IAC), it is Suriya who has also publicly voiced his appreciation for Anna's efforts. He was seen with director Murugadoss when the Tamil Film Industry held a one - day fast to show its solidarity with Anna's cause.
Suriya declared his admiration for Anna and his resolve to end corruption in India. He said that not only India but the entire world should sit up and take notice of this peaceful revolution.

New person in Priyamani's life

Priyamani's world is changed a lot these days, thanks to the arrival of a new 'man'. And it is none other than Mocha, her pet dog. "Mocha is so cute and smart. I love each and every moment I spend with him," says the dusky beauty.

It was the actress's longtime wish to have a dog at home. "But my dad was against to this. After much perusal and many years, he finally allowed me to keep a pet at home. And that's Mocha," the Muthazhagu of 'Paruthiveeran' says.

Priyamani however has a regret too. That she has to miss Mocha whenever she stays away from home for shoot. "The days I am not with Mocha are painful to me. But what to do? I have no other option," she says.

On not regularly acting in Tamil films, she says, "Because I have offers from other languages and I have to honour them too." Priyamani is currently busy shooting for Telugu and Kannada films, shutting between Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Can we call it the Vijay-Ajith clash?

Come August 31^st and we can expect a Vijay-Ajith clash. Well, it is not likely that their films are to be released on the same day. But something close to that is to happen. Yes, Ajith’s 50^th film Mankatha is due to be released on August 31^st and on the same day, the Salman Khan starrer Bodyguard will also hit the marquee.

Popular star Arvind Samy is to turn into a villain! The actor had kept away from Kollywood but director Thiru’s script impressed him so much that he decided to face the camera after a long sabbatical.

Harris's status update on 'Nanban'

Harris Jayaraj, who is already done with three songs in 'Nanban', has now completed the fourth one too. The music composer is happy with the output of the number, sung by Vijay Prakash and Sunidhi Chauhan.

'Nanban', directed by Shankar with Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth playing the lead roles, is a remake of Hindi hit '3 Idiots'. This is the second time for Harris to join hands with Shankar, with the first one being 'Anniyan'.

"Just finished the fourth song for Nanban. It has come good," says the music director, who is also upbeat about his other venture, the Suriya starrer '7am Arivu', directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies.

"The final mix of 7am Arivu is over. Audio will be launched on September 10," he wrote on his microblogging page. Earlier, Harris tweeted that 7am Arivu has a Chinese song and he is satisfied with the outcome.

Anushka out and Tamannah in!

Raghava Lawrence is currently basking in the success of Kanchana. For those who are curious about what he is doing next, the dancer/director/actor is directing a film with Telugu heartthrob, Prabhas called Rebel. Anushka was cast as the heroine in this film which was delayed as Prabhas was promoting his film Mr. Perfect and Lawrence was busy with Kanchana. But now that the director and the hero have completed their previous commitments, Rebel is ready to resume.
However, the latest is that Anushka has opted out of the project following creative differences with the director. Simbu's 'Munni' with fancy price tags?

Silambarasan aka STR is working on a fast pace at his diwali release, 'Osthi', that�s a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 'Dabangg' that featured Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.

The film also featured a song 'Munni Badnaam Hui...' that became a smashing hit and received international popularity. With the film being remade in Tamil, the one question that remains is who will reprise this hot number as Simbu's Munni in 'Osthi'.

The latest is that Simbu and his team are keen on featuring a Bollywood top-notch actress, like Katrina Kaif of 'Sheila Ki Jawani...' fame or 'Rana' girl Deepika Padukone and Simbu and Dharani are willing to shell out up to one crore rupees for this actress!

Even Bipasha Basu, B'town's dusky beauty who is currently shooting on a Hindi film with Madhavan at Greece is being considered for this item number. It may be mentioned she has earlier appeared in Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Sachin'.

Suriya, looking for a change

"Everyone in the country is looking for a change. And this is the right time for that," said Suriya, offering his support to anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, who was on a fast in New Delhi for the past eight days pressing for a powerful Lokpal Bill.

The actor was speaking at a one-day fast organised in Chennai by the Tamil film industry on Tuesday, to express solidarity to Anna Hazare. "His fight against corruption is making a big impact not just in India, but all over the world," said Suriya.

Speaking to reporters at the fast venue, director AR Murugadoss said, "64 years have gone since India attained independence. But still, our Government is yet to fulfil even some of the basic needs of the general public."

"The reason behind all atrocities is corruption. Only if we eradicate corruption now, the future generation would get to see a new India. This anti-corruption movement should see a great success," he added. Members from various associations of Kollywood took part in this fast.

Trisha opposite Suresh Gopi

Rumours are abuzz that Trisha will play the female lead to Suresh Gopi for a Malayalam movie. To be directed by Unnikrishnan, the movie is titled IG.

The film will be produced by P. Rajan under the banner of Vaishakha Films and is likely to start rolling by September this year, as per reports. Trisha is currently acting in Telugu version of Bodyguard and Tamil film

Jayam Ravi is both hero and villain?

Ameer's Aadhi Bagawan with Jayam Ravi has been in the making for almost a year and a half. Now Ameer has shifted to top gear and he is racing ahead with the project so that it can have a year end release. Word is that Jayam Ravi has a dual role in the film. When quizzed about it, Ameer was hesitant at first but admitted that it was so.
Further questions were immediately shot at him as everyone wanted to know if one character would be the hero and the other the villain since that is the rumor that has been floating around for the past few days. Ameer laughed when he heard this and told those present that he would not reveal plot details as it would kill the suspense and disappoint fans who always expect the unexpected from him. So for now he is keeping mum about the whole thing.

Vijay to cash in on Mahesh Babu's loss

In recent times, Telugu stars like Jr. NTR and Ram Charan Teja have attempted to capture a market for themselves in the Tamil industry especially since our stars like Suriya, Karthi, and Jiiva have successfully dubbed their films in Telugu. They met with indifferent results and they seem  to have given up as Allu Arjun's Badrinath, which was to be dubbed and released in Tamil was scrapped.
Now another star will be attempting to make the crossover successfully. It is none other than Vijay. His Nanban is to be released in Telugu. Originally, the movie was supposed to be made simultaneously in Telugu, but Mahesh Babu who was supposed to do it, chose to back away from the project. Now it has been decided that Nanban will be dubbed and released in Telugu and hopefully make a killing there as well.

Simbu didn't speak to me: Shriya

Shriya Saran has denied reports appeared in a section of the media that she would do a special number in Silambarasan's 'Osthi'. "There is no truth in that claim. I am not there in Osthi", says the actress.

"I came to know about this offer only after reading media reports", she says and adds: "Simbu has not approached me for Osthi". Earlier there was a buzz that STR initially approached Nayanthara for the number and she turned down the offer.

On her forthcoming Tamil film 'Rowthiram', Shriya says, "I have a big role in Rowthiram. I play a law college student, who is in love with an advocate (Jiiva). It is a strong character and I loved being part of Rowthiram".

"Jiiva and director Gokul are great colleagues. I am hopeful that Rowthiram would be a landmark film in my career and it would do well in the box-office as well. I am ready for more such roles", she concludes.

A cheerful Chinmayi

Her bagging the prestigious Nandi award has put Chinamyi on cloud nine. On Friday, the Andhra Pradesh government announced that the popular singer has been adjudged as the best dubbing artiste for 'Ye Maya Chesave', the Telugu version of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya'.

Recalling as to how she became a dubbing artiste, Chinmayi writes on her blog, "This journey, too started from Rahman sir's studio when the studio engineer Karthik called me to test for Sillunu Oru Kadhal. I, in my opinion, had a very un-girly, un-sing-song voice".

"I was just the normal voice. Somehow director Krishna decided this is the voice he wants for Bhumika Chawla and I am now 22 films old for dubbing in about five years. This was never something I planned", she says.

On giving voice for Trisha in 'VTV' and for Samantha in 'YMC', she says, "Vinnaithandi Varuvaya and Ye Maya Chesave are definitely one of the best films in my dubbing career. I love working with Gautham sir. Learned a lot of things from him. Especially subtlety in dubbing".

"Before Vaaranam Ayiram I was just plain scared of Gautham Menon. Had never been introduced to him before this film and I was always intimidated and iced out by him. But I am super thankful that he chose me to be the voice of Sameera Reddy despite everything. And then the voice of Jessi".

Surya to live perform at 7am Arivu Audio Launch

During audio releases, It is a common practice to make choreography for the songs sequenced in a movie. But for a change, Surya will be donning some acrobatics scenes which find place in 7am Arivu. The movie depicts the hero as an acrobatics master and Surya has done a marvelous job in this film.
Murugadoss, the director intends to do something different for the promotion of this movie. Hence he suggested Surya to go on live on stage for these scenes. This will be performed at the audio launch scheduled in Chennai soon.

'Velayudham' audio around August 15

Expectations on this Vijay starrer are sky-high, and the many reasons for this need not even be explained upon. Fans are eagerly awaiting the audio release date of this film but no official announcement has been made yet, although it has been confirmed that this would be an August release.

Meanwhile, the director's brother and actor Jayam Ravi, has expressed to Ilayathalapathy fans that 'Velayudham' will see an audio launch around August 15!

"Got this out of the lions mouth, director Raja says Velayudham audio launch will be around August 15, enjoy Thalapathy fans. The wait will be worth it", says an excited Jayam Ravi who will be shortly traveling to Goa for the shoot on 'Aadhi Bhagavan'.

'Velayudham' is Vijay's superhero project where he romances Hansika Motwani. Genelia D' Souza plays a television reporter and the tunes are composed by Vijay Antony.

Yuvan connects with Ek Duje Ke Liye

Newbie director Saran has said that he has shot one song in Yuvan at a very risky spot in Goa. The film stars Rakul and Siddarth Rajkumar brother of actor Prabhas.
The director was so set on filming one particular song in that area despite the locals warning them that it is very perilous to go there.
However, with the entire team supporting his decision, Saran decided to go ahead. Once down at the spot and filming completed, the whole team returned to their accommodations only to be laid down with fever. The director said that only then did they realize how fearful the entire experience was.
Interestingly, it was at the same location that veteran director K Balachander had filmed Ek Duje Ke Liye.

Jeeva's Break From 'Nanban’

Jeeva and his multi-projects have been making headlines now. In fact, he occupies major portions of the ‘Entertainment’ pages in newspapers and almost every media network. Having struck gold with ‘Ko’ and its Telugu version ‘Rangam’, the actor is now keeping his fingers crossed upon his next film ‘Rowthiram’ scheduled to hit screens on August 12.

Much before wrapping up with ‘Rowthiram’ and ‘Vandhan Vendran’, Jeeva was occupied with ‘Nanban’. Now as these projects are over, he is keeping himself very much adhered to Shankar’s project. Since the actor is over a 3-day break from ‘Nanban’, he’ll start working on promotions for ‘Rowthiram’ from today.

Moreover, the actor has been spreading word of mouth communication by himself, which is a rare factor in Kollywood these days.

Sanjay Dutt in 'Kanchana'?

The success of 'Kanchana' in Tamil and Telugu has made Lawrence Raghavendra to cash in on more on the theme. Besides remaking the film in Hindi, the actor-director-choreographer will also make a sequel to it in Tamil and Telugu.

"As far as the Hindi remake is concerned, Salman Khan will do the lead role. I am planning to approach Sanjay Dutt to do the character played by Sarath Kumar," says Lawrence, revealing his Bollywood plans.

"I am currently busy directing a Telugu film titled Rebel, which has Prabhas and Anushka in the lead roles. The Hindi movie will start after I complete Rebel. Upon finishing the Bollywood version of Kanchana, I will start its sequel in Tamil," he says.

Remember 'Kanchana' itself is a sequel to 'Muni', which was directed by Lawrence in 2007. "I am overwhelmed by the response to Kanchana. Box-office reports are very promising and I thank the Almighty and the audience," he signs off.

'Viswaroopam' To kick - start this August

The final countdown is on. Kamal Haasan's 'Viswaroopam' is expected to hit the floors very soon, with the Ulaga Nayagan finalizing almost everything related to the project, except the heroine.

"This is because of the sudden walkout of Sonakshi Sinha from the film, due to some unavoidable reasons. A search is on to replace her and things will be finalized within this week," sources in the know tell us.

"Kamal is keen to start the shoot at the earliest. He feels that the project is already being delayed," they further say, adding: "In all probability, he will begin Viswaroopam by the second week of August."

To be directed by Kamal Haaasan himself, 'Viswaroopam' is said to be an action thriller which will be shot in foreign locales. Initially Selvaraghavan was roped in as the director, but he had to opt out to complete 'Maalai Mayakkam' with Dhanush.

Aishwarya’s choice is Amala Paul and GV Prakash

Grapevine has it that Amala Paul has been signed up to play the female lead in the Dhanush starrer that is to be directed by his wife Aishwarya. The actress has been signed up following Shruti Haasan’s refusal to star in it.
And the music director for this yet-to-be-named film will be GV Prakash says a credible source from Kollywood. Dhanush enjoys a good rapport with the music director who is also setting the tunes for Irandam Ulagam, a film directed by his brother Selvaraghavan.
The shooting of this movie is expected to begin soon after Dhanush completes Irandam Ulagam.

The Month for Ajith, Suriya, and Vijay Fans!

August is going to be a very happening month for Tamil cinema, with several huge projects lining up for release. Audio launches and movie releases have been scheduled for as many as 13 films in this month alone! Vijay, Ajith, and Suriya films are also a part of this mix.
The past few months have been sluggish for Tamil cinema with hardly any big name films releasing. Insiders have attributed this to the fact that Tamil cinema’s biggest competitor cricket was monopolizing audience attention with the World cup and IPL. So from the beginning big filmmakers wanted their films to have their releases later in the year.
Be that as it may, fans who have been starved for a slice of their favorite stars are in for a treat. Vijay’s Velayudham, Ajith’s Mankatha, and Suriya’s 7am Arivu are likely to have audio launches this month with the view to have a big Diwali release hopefully. Nothing is confirmed but tentative dates for audio launch have been set for August 10^th (Mankatha), 15^th (Velayudham), and 20^th (7am Arivu).
The makers of other films have also confirmed release dates for this month. Doo, Potta Potti, Ramanathapuram, and Singakottai will be screened on August 5^th. These films feature fresh talent and are hoping to have a good showing.
Jiiva’s Rowthiram with Shriya is set to release on August 12^th. The star is having a great year so his fans are waiting to see his latest offering. The music in this film has been hugely appreciated. Sharing the honors with them will be Sagaakal, Sankaran Koil, and Yuvan.
On August 19^th, Mudhal Idam, Puli Vesham, and Theni Mavattam will be releasing. On their heels Kalavani Sargunam’s Vaagai Sooda Vaa with Vimal in the lead which has generated a lot of expectations will be screened on August 26^th. Yuva Yuvathi will also release on the same day.
Looks like a super fun month ahead as Tamil cinema fans can sit back and enjoy the latest work of their favorite stars.

The scoop on Vijay's film with Gautham Menon

There is a lot of speculation regarding Vijay's role in Gautham Menon's film. Both the hero and the director have been playing things very close to the chest and are unwilling to reveal juicy details though official word on the project is expected soon if only to put a rest to the rumors.
Sources close to the project reveal that in this film, Vijay will play a law enforcement official or a sexy secret agent like James Bond. It is going to be a stylish action flick like Gautham Menon's Kaakha Kaakha and Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu. Vijay is very pleased with the script, we hear and is very enthusiastic about his role.

Suriya to dazzle on stage

Suriya's film with Murugadoss, opposite Shruti Hassan, 7am Arivu is nearing the finish line, and it is one of the most awaited films of the year. Apparently he plays a circus acrobat in the film and has worked hard to pull off this difficult role. Unit members were dazzled with the dizzying acrobatics he has performed in this film. They were so impressed that the makers begged him to show off some of his moves to the audience at the audio launch for the film which is to be held this month. Being the good sport he is, Suriya has agreed.
This spectacular event is to take place at Nehru stadium and Kalaignar TV has obtained the broadcasting rights. Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies is producing the film.  Therefore the trailer for his Oru Kal Oru Kannadi will also be released simultaneously. Not only Tamil cinema fans but even folks in Bollywood and the Telugu film industry are counting off the days to its release.
Murugadoss had reportedly turned down many Bollywood projects so that he could do this film! His confidence in his film and Suriya is immense. We can't wait to see it!

It's 'Mayakkam Enna' for Dhanush - Selva, tidbits on audio!

IG had earlier reported that Selvaraghavan - Dhanush's 'Irandam Ulagam' bears the title tentatively and the film will see a title change.

Grapevine now has it that this Dhanush - Richa Gangopadhyay starrer maybe called 'Mayakkam Enna', however, even though there's a name change, even this might see a change and this can just be the working title, say sources. Remember the film was initially titled 'Idhu Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam', when Karthi was supposed to play the lead?

The tunes for this film are composed by GV Prakash who spoke on the tracks of the film. "Final work on the Selvaraghavan project is on. Audio will release by month end and an official announcement on the audio launch will be made soon", says GV.

He also expressed that his favourite tracks in this film are 'Naan Sonnadhum Mazhai Vandhucha...' and 'Kadhal En Kadhal...' Other songs are 'Oda Oda Dhooram...', 'Pirai Thedum...', and 'Engengu Ponom...' say reliable sources from the unit. GV Prakash has lent his voice for 'Pirai Thedum...'

Looks like 'Mayakkam Enna' is all geared up for an audio launch which will be held shortly...

Ganesh Acharya - From songs to stunts

Expectations are running high for Jiiva's upcoming film 'Rowthiram'. After his last release 'Ko' was lapped up by fans and film lovers alike, Jiiva is getting ready to kick off with Gokul's 'Rowthiram' which will see Jiiva as an angry young man. Ganesh Acharya will be Jiiva's antagonist and this will be Ganesh's first role as a villain in K'wood.

Ganesh is one of the ace dance choreographers in Bollywood with films like 'Rang De Basanti', 'Golmaal' and 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' in his portfolio. He has also choreographed a couple of dance sequences in Tamil for 'Raavanan' and 'Ayan'. Ganesh has also a directed and produced a Bollywood film.

'Rowthiram's director Gokul is believed to be pleased with the way this film has come out. He is also waiting for the audience response when they come in contact with the baddie of the film, Ganesh Acharya, who according to the director has done a good show in the film, inducing the role with tough looks and a rough attitude to match.
