Amitabh Bachchan as Satyajit Ray

With the recent film ‘The Last Lear’ making high waves across the globe, the duo combo of Amitabh Bachchan and Rituparno Ghosh join hands for one more. If Amitabh had played the role of an ageing dramatist, this forthcoming film will depict him in the role of ace filmmaker Satyajit Ray. Rituparno Ghosh who earlier made famous films ‘Rain Coat’ and ‘The Last Lear’ directs this film. Being a Bengali filmmaker, Ghosh was vividly inspired from Satyajit Ray, the man who made Indian Cinema so prideful with his masterpieces. Remember that once Akira Kurusowa, the famous Japanese filmmaker had said that he had learned a lot from Satyajit’s style of filmmaking.
Fine! This film is all about the real life love story of Satyajit Ray and actress Mathabi Mukherji. This actress had acted in the Satyajith’s film of ‘Charulatha’ and ‘Mahanagar’. Their affair was very well known to the Ray’s family. Rituparno Ghosh earlier wanted to make a film on this, but Satyajit Ray’s son Sandeep Ray opposed this. So, plans are to make the film without using the name of Sathyajit Ray.
With Big B playing the role of this ace director, Shabna Azmi plays his wife’s role and Madhuri Dixit is offered to play the role of Mathabi Mukherji.
