Dheena spills the secret of his victory

RJ Dheena of the Big FM who walked into the Guinness Book of World Records recently attributes his success to the soothing music played in the background which was from the Sonoton Music Library. He said this music soothed his nerves. Lekha congratulated Dheena for this wonderful feat. Lekha Rathnakumar, the renowned ad filmmaker introduced the concept of background music library to Kollywood and established Lekha-Sonoton music library in Chennai.
Lekha Sonoton has made myriad ad films and had composed a collection of background music tracks that convey various types of moods and which have been used as background score in Hollywood films like Cloverfield. So how did Lekha get into this unusual one-of-a-kind business? In 1993 he launched the Lekha Sonoton Recorded Music Company. It was affiliated to the Sonoton Creative Music Solutions, Germany. Lekha who was into ads and TV serials, has several leading ads like Dots appalam to his credit. So he knew the business of showbiz and its requirements very well. The company he started recently recognizes the need for ad and film makers to hire or make background scores, sounds for various situations Every time you need to convey any of these, you have to record the music which can be a hugely costly affair. Orchestras, musicians, composing, dates and recordings are a cumbersome and time -consuming process.
Instead of that, if you walk into Lekha’s premises, you can hire any of the different kinds of music which he has stored and ready for use. The parent company in Germany is one of the oldest and most reputed in the trade and Lekha is aided by and affiliated to them. The collaboration works well for both since Lekha also records special Indian sounds and music for them and in turn stocks the ones they send.
