Taare Zameen Par will vie for the Academy Awards this year. The film will be India’s official entrant to the coveted awards ceremony. This Aamir’s home production was selected unanimously by the 10-member jury. Suneel Darshan, the head of the jury, said that TZP was selected solely for its brilliance. TZP managed to emerge the winner after
the jury ruled out the Marathi films Tingya and Valu. Valu was in fact a strong contender for the Academy Awards as it was showcased in a number of international film festivals.
TZP, a critically acclaimed film, was produced and directed by Aamir Khan who also played an important role in it. Darsheel Safary, the eight-year-old around whom the film revolves, was applauded by everyone for his excellent performance.
However, we could not gauge Aamir’s reaction immediately as he is out of town and is expected only on Tuesday.
