The proposed human chain agitation reportedly began near the High Court as planned despite the lashing rains in Chennai. Under the auspices of Chief Minister Karunanidhi, members of the film fraternity and political parties are observing a human chain that starts from Chennai city and ends in Chengalpet to voice concerns over the killings
of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka. However, Chennai witnessed heavy downpour since afternoon making the task a near-impossible one.
Despite this hurdle, popular directors including Bharathiraja, Seeman, Bala, "Subramaniyapuram" Sasi and actors including Satyaraj, Radhika started the process and walked their way to Nandanam via Arivalayam to be joined by the Chief Minister.
Recently, the Tamil film fraternity conducted a protest meet in Rameswaram that ran into controversies owing to the controversial speeches made by certain directors.
Traffic is reportedly sluggish along the GST Road owing to the human chain, as per reports.
