B.R. Chopra passes away


Veteran producer and director B.R. Chopra passed away earlier today in Mumbai after prolonged illness, he was 94 years old. He is survived by brother Yash Chopra, son Ravi Chopra and nephew Aditya Chopra.
B.R. Chopra had been one of the leading producers in Bollywood for nearly half a decade. Under his
banner B.R. films he produced and directed some of the landmark films in Hindi cinema like Naya Daur, Gumraah, Dhundh and Humraaz. He was also an accomplished script writer with films like Baghbaan and Baabul to his credit. His name is etched in the history of Indian television due to the massively successful production of the epic Mahabharatha. In recognition of his achievements and wholesome contribution to Indian cinema, he was given the Dadasaheb Phalke award, India's highest cinema honor, in 1998. His brother Yash Chopra and nephew Aditya Chopra currently run the most successful production house in Bollywood, Yashraj films.
