Family fued: Beginning of the end?

It was a reunion that didn't go unnoticed. In fact it was a reunion that could spell drastic changes to Tamilnadu's political scenario, the television industry and also the film industry.
Bitter foes, the Maaran Brothers (Kalanidhi and Dhyanidhi) and M. K. Azhagiri, son of Chief Minister Karunanidhi were seen under the same roof. According to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, the patch-up was spearheaded by his sons M. K. Azhagiri and M. K. Stalin who invited the Maaran Brothers over to the their Gopalapuram residence.
The Maaran brothers run the famed Sun TV which is the most watched television channel in Tamilnadu. To counter this famous channel, Kalaigner TV was started. Both these sides also started distributing films. Sun Pictures on one side and Red Giant Movies and Cloud Nine Pictures on the other side had all the makings of a rivalry that could shake the very roots of the film industry. Aggressive promotion of films on television as never seen before….
This 'patch-up' that happened on the 1st of December has led to a lot of speculation. With both Sun Network and Kalaigner TV acquiring almost all the quality films in recent times, it looks like the entire inventory of good Tamil Cinema belongs to one party now. Is this is a healthy sign? We still will have to wait and see how Sun Pictures, Cloud Nine Pictures and Red Giant Movies operate. Will they actually join up or will they function in such a way that they compliment each other? With these groups becoming such big names in recent times who would actually emerge as competitors?
Watch this space to find out how the film industry reacts to this 'patch up' as the days unfold.
