New rules for directors

Bharathiraja, who was voted to power as the President of the Directors’ Council has come up with some new rules and regulations. A joint statement made by Bharathiraja and general secretary R.K. Selvamani states that non members of the Directors’ Council will not be allowed to direct films. This rule will come into effect from January 1st, it was


mentioned. Further, the film technicians will not cooperate with these directors. The rule is applicable not only to the directors but also to all assistant and associate directors.

Yet another major development is that all assistant and associate directors will be paid a nominal salary by the Council through the “Salary through Sangam” scheme. These major reforms are set to bring in a new dimension to the Directors’ Council.
