Let's check out what the prominent stars have in store for us this 2009. The year has begun on a dull note with just four releases so far and all of them reportedly had only a lukewarm response at the box office.
Rajinikanth: The 'Super Star', who is still the darling of the masses, is shooting day and night for the magnum opus 'Endhiran'. The sci-fi thriller being directed by Shankar is expected to create ripples. In all probability, the actor will be shooting for the movie this whole year. Meanwhile, post production works for his animation movie 'Sultan The Warrior' is getting closed. We might get to see an animated image of him before he comes for real next year.
Ajith: The man whose last 'Aegan' had a miserable show, is all geared up to commence his next venture titled 'Asal'. To be directed by Saran and produced by Sivaji Films, Asal will go to floors this Februray. One movie at a time, Ajith is keen to bounce back with vigor. Most probably, Samira Reddy might play the heroine.
Vijay: After his recent release 'Villu', Vijay will take rest for a while before commencing shooting for his 49th film 'Vettaikaran', to be directed by Babu Sivan, a former associate of director Dharani. All set to commence shooting for next month, 'Vettaikaran' features Anushka opposite him and the movie is produced by AVM Balasubramaniam.
Vishal: The tall, dark and handsome hero of Tamil cinema is desperate for a hit after the recent drubbing that he received in 'Sathyam'. He is currently shooting for 'Thoranai', a movie that is produced by his brother Vikram Krishna for their home production GK Corporation. After completing the venture, buzz is that he would do a Selvaraghavan film this year.
Vikram: Well, the actor is expecting a cracking year. His much-awaited 'Kanthaswamy', which is in the cans for a long time will eventually hit the screens soon. Vikram is also acting for the first time ever in a Mani Ratnam movie titled 'Ravana' AKA 'Ashokavanam'. He plays the title role in Tamil while a prominent one in the Hindi version.
Actors including Bharath and Dhanush too have their hands full. The former would be part of movies including the Tamil remake of Jab We Met and 'Thirutani' to be directed by Perarasu. Dhanush will shoot for 'Idhu Malai Nerathu Mayakkam' besides a couple of others.
Also Paruthiveeran Karthi, who finally completed 'Ayirathil Oruvan', will start shooting for Lingusamy's 'Paiyya'. Vinay would be shooting for Kavithalaya Productions 'Nootrukku Nooru', a remake of the yesteryear hit that featured Jayshankar in the lead.
