Alaiyodu Vilaiyadu: of conflict ridden waters

Director Raghavan today convened a press meet to say a few important things about his upcoming movie Alaiyodu Vilaiyadu. He said that the movie will not be a run of the mill entertainer and deals with an issue that has been gnawing at our hearts for a long time, the plight of the fishermen caught up in the troubled waters between India and Sri Lanka. Over the recent past, many fishermen have been shot by the Sri Lankan naval forces while at sea. While these incidents have raised considerable public indignation,
nothing concrete has yet been done by the government or the people to sort out the issue. It is with this in mind that the director made the movie.
Alaiyodu Vilaiyadu will deal with the lives of two people who have lost everything due to the conflict ridden waters between India and Sri Lanka. One of the characters will be a Sri Lankan refugee while the other will be that of a native belonging to a fisherman’s family which gets caught up in shooting. How their lives are affected by the incidents will be the main focus of the movie.
Debutante Vijayan will play the lead along with Karthika. The film has passed through the censor board without any cuts and the director says that the movie will be a sensitive portrayal of the issue. He is a former assistant of Udhayakumar and Manivannan. Produced by cameraman Raj Preeth, the music of the movie, scored by Sabesh Murali had been recently released in Chennai.
