Ghajini and Rab ne bana de jodi gave solace to the Hindi film industry in the last month of 2008 and we would be needing one such blockbuster to get things moving in Bollywood as 2009’s first two months have hardly pleased the distributors. With many movies which gave big thumbs up from the critics like Luck by chance, Dev D, President is coming and Stoneman murders only Dev D and Raaz got thumbs up from the public.
Delhi 6 and Chandni Chowk to China the two monster release became colossal flops and movies like Dev D and Raaz 2 which had minimal star power and minimal budget went to make some quick bucks at the ticket counter. Dev D became the darling of the multiplex whereas Raaz 2 became the single screen favorite. Last week release 13B, Kaarma aur holi and Dhoondte reha jaoge did little to change the scenario. But with many interesting titles up on cards like Straight, 99, Aa dekhen zara, 8X10 Tasveer, New york, Kambakth ishq and Kaminey lined up to enthrall the audience in the first half of the year, lets hope that more smiles and laughs are ensured in the next few months with extra few digits ready to figure in the pay-in-slip of the distributors.
