Slumdog camera in Tamil Cinema

The camera used to shoot Slumdog Millionaire is a Silicon Imaging SI 2 K movie camera and is now going to be used in Tamil Cinema. Whats so special about that? There is no flim negatives loaded into this camera. The main camera can be connected to a laptop via an Ethernet cable. One hard disk is said to hold 4 hours of movie or 160 GB of data.
This makes it extremely handy and easy to use. Besides, the content that is shot can be edited on location via the laptop. This means that re-shooting can be done if needed since the output can be seen immediately and is very cost effective.

Tamil Cinema technicians who are known to adapt all the new techology were seen with excitement at the SICA office, as technicians were having a look at the equipment, mounted on a tripod, Nagesh Bannel, the representative of Q Lab, explained the intricacies.
Seen in the photo are cinematographers association president B.N. Sundaram, Secretary G. Siva and K.S. Selvaraj.
