Not for nothing has producer Thanu earned himself the tag of Kalaipuli. Widely acknowledged as a pioneer in marketing his films, he has splurged for his three-year project ‘Kanthaswamy’, starring Vikram and Shriya.
“This is a film made with international standards. Which is why we have planned on releasing it abroad in foreign languages as well. The film, I can so confidently state, will create history and will break records that I don’t mind if it is my last film,” said Thanu. Incidentally, ‘Kanthaswamy’ marks his silver jubilee year in the area of production. “I want this film to be famous not just nationally, but internationally. It is for this reason that I’m planning to telecast trailers of the film on the big screen in the stadiums during the IPL series. It costs Rs 25 lakhs for 1-minute, but I’ll still go ahead and do it to give my stars international recognition,” he said.
Speaking about the movie, he emphasized that it thoroughly was director Susi Ganesan’s movie. “The film is completely his hard work. He has spent three years thinking of nothing else and the victory of the movie will belong to him and the whole team,” Thanu said.
The film is said to have cost over Rs 30 crore and the producer is spending a fortune promoting his film. It is times of recession and the producer has still dared to spend so much. Let’s only hope the recession times don’t make it that bad that it really turns out to be Thanu’s last film as he has all his hopes heaped on it.
