It’s not just by words, but I felt something more reverently experienced a fantabulous moment. Of course, this isn’t a flick that’s just gratifying to the tastes of youth groups deeply in love. Trust us! It’s a token of gratitude for those who’ve lost true love and a great time for those who haven’t fallen in love. Really, it’s gonna be a poetic pictures with splendiferous characterizations.
A gripping tale and dialogues by Sujatha, a fine-tuned screenplay by Gandhi Krishna, gracious performance by every star-cast and what else? Certainly, crème de la crème technicians and their adeptness make the film more interesting on many parts.
On the pars, few audiences may not be drawn deeply into the screens for few things are far above their heads. Again, this is something I heard right from one of the audiences who was just seated beside me. But, Gandhi Krishna needn’t worry. He’s top-notching on sharp characterizations and presenting the legend’s word into beautiful pictures.
The film has couple of flashbacks, right on the first shot and another one post-the first minute of interval.
It opens with Ragupathi (Siddarth) so distressed and jumping steep of hill with heavy waters flowing down. Within flashes, you’re taken to his previous days where it’s revealed about Raghu’s backdrops of a lovable dad (Kitty), his unemployment and of course his sweetheart Madhumitha (Thamannah). When their parents have fixed engagement for them, it’s time to rejoice for Siddarth who loses any attention on his dad and loves the in-laws and Madhu. But things are garbling for this young lad as Madhu’s parents fix her nuptials with Radhakrishnan (Rishi), a rich guy from Mackintosh in US. Madhu who’s so obedient to her parents abides their rules. Perhaps, you’ve got the conclusion of Raghu’s suicide. But the very next shot, he flees to US for his higher studies where he tends to meet Rathna (Rukmani), a girl born and bought up in Maxim City yet has great adherence for Indian Tradition and Culture. Gradually, it’s friendship that blossoms first and then embarks on the romantic scenarios… When they decide to marry with their parents’ blessing at Pittsburgh Temple, there happens to be obnoxious element. That’s when both Raghu comes across Madhu. Has their lost love got something to do with their fate… Of course, watch the rest on screens.
Thamannah steals the show with her dazing show. For sure, she will fetch the best awards for her skilled take. Especially in the penultimate and climax, she’ll really fetch your attention. Siddarth doesn’t spot any of his attributes of a fresher. He’s cool and perfect on every frame. Rukmani gets on for a brilliant show though her characterization is inserted in latter half. Rishi – young lad sways with his antagonistic role. Kitty donning the father’s role of Siddarth overwhelms with astonishing part.
GV Prakash’s musical score adds more lights is nothing but an emotional glue. ‘Poovinai’ and ‘Kana Kangiren’ are beautiful numbers and so does the Jeeva Shankar’s cinematography. But, editing could’ve been bit sharper and discontinuity seems to prevailing here and there. However, the flaws aren’t so blatant with this beautiful piece of work. If Gandhi Krishna had done a better take on first half’s narration, things would’ve been better.
But, the best verdict for the film is ‘A Best Film of the season. Indeed, a great tribute to Sujatha’…
Verdict: Must Watch it…

  1. after all those negative reviews,my husband & i decided to watch the movies, for which we had to drive for one & a half hours(the movie was playing in new jersey).i had read the book as a college student & trust me,i was in for a pleasant shock when i watched the movie!it is a fabulous movie & i truly donot understand why people are giving such poor review.i think the director has done a great job, preserving the originality of the novel, the whole time.the negative points were maybe, the lack of a star cast for the male lead & the made up baldness of the husband(it looked weird).but, still,i think siddarth has done a competent job & infact his acting was quite good at certain scenes.after seeing tammana, now i cannot think of any other actress playing the bubbly, naive madhumitha.come on guys, with movies like ayan & others releasing with star casts & such pathetic story lines,i'm shocked that people would be so unfair in rating such a nice movie, poorly!
