Shankar who directed films like Gentleman, Kadhalan, Boys, Indian and Shivaji is currently directing Rajnikanth starrer Endhiran. Apart from directing he is also producing films under the banner S Pictures. He gives opportunity to other directors to direct his films. Currently he is producing three films. They are Rettai Suzhi, Ram and Anandapurathu Veedu.
Bharathi Raja and K Balachandar are in the lead roles of the film Rettai Suzhi. Jayachitra is pairing with K Balachandar while Bharathiraja has no pair in this film. Jayachitra while speaking about this said,” In my cinema career, Sollathan Ninaikirein was one stage. Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal was another stage and now Rettai Suzhi is the third stage. It is also a great pleasure for me when I heard that Balachandar had requested the director that I should pair with him.”
