The fourth installment of the successful franchise is all set to electrify the Indian audience
Mumbai, 10th June 2009… Sony Pictures presents a Moritz Borman Production, in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, a McG Film, Terminator Salvation. The long awaited fourth installment of the highly successful Terminator franchise will finally hit the Indian screens on 26th June 2009 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. After setting the international screens on fire, Terminator Salvation will delight and enthrall its fan base which has been eagerly awaiting the film after hearing the accolades received by the movie internationally.
Terminator Salvation stars Christian Bale as John Connor, before becoming leader of the Resistance, Aussie actor Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, a cyborg who believes he is human, Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Connor and Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams. It also introduces a young version of the first film’s hero, John Connor’s father Kyle Reese, played by Anton Yelchin, and depicts the origins of the T-800 Model 101 Terminator. Fans of the previous films will also see be surprised to see interesting cameos by their favourite characters, more details of which will be revealed in the film.
Terminator Salvation is set in post-apocalyptic 2018, focuses on the war between humanity and Skynet. John Connor is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future that Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright, a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.
It abandons the time travel element of previous entries in the series which centered on Terminators and other characters traveling through time to either kill or protect John Connor before the events of Judgment Day unfold. The screenplay is by Michael Ferris and John Brancato. Moritz Borman, Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek and Jeffrey Silver are the producers, with Jeanne Allgood, Dan Lin, Mario F. Kassar, Andrew G. Vajna and Joel B. Michaels serving as executive producers.
Director McG of Charlie’s Angels and The O.C. fame says, “We’re telling the story of the world after Judgment Day. This is the story of the becoming of John Connor, the becoming of Kyle Reese, the strengthening of Skynet, and where our humanity ultimately lies. This is the moment when mankind takes a stand against the machines.”
He deemed Bale “the most credible action star in the world” and says “The movie is mostly designed for those who have seen all three Terminator films but can also work for those who don’t know anything about them. It is a stand-alone movie, which is why it’s a truly new beginning” Terminator creator James Cameron personally recommended Worthington to McG. McG says “Worthington looked tougher than the great many of today’s young male actors.” Worthington recalled Cameron told him “the Terminator to make is the one with the war.”
That is the story of the human race after all. We aren’t owed anything. Whether you believe in a loving God or an indifferent cosmos man finds himself always in the need of a second chance. It’s our ability to love, forgive, render compassion, and nurture that make us more than machines. Without a second chance the whole human race might just as well rust in whatever apocalyptic landscape that awaits.
Sony Pictures Releasing International is distributing the film in most international territories (excluding South Korea and select Middle East territories). SPE includes global operations; encompass motion picture production and distribution, television programming and syndication, home video acquisition and distribution, operation of studio facilities, development of new entertainment technologies and distribution of filmed entertainment in 67 countries worldwide.
