Amongst the well-recognized piece of recitals, Honorable Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi ennobles ‘Kalaignarin Ponnar Shankar’ so close to his heart penned in 1978. Indeed, the legend states that it’s a novel that is close to his heart. Although there have been many proposals about turning this mind-boggling novel into movie, Karunanidhi had backed off and he has felt Thyagarajan would be the apt person to make it brilliantly.
The film has Prashanth performing dual roles of brother Ponnar-Shankar. The two warrior brothers are considered to be the Gods even today in the respective Villages. The movie will be launched tomorrow in grandeur with Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi himself appearing for the occasion and switching on the camera. Also it will have group of stars Napoleon, Satyaraj, Raj Kiran, Vijayakumar, Vadivelu, Riyaz Khan, Ponvannan, Kushboo, Seetha, Manorama, Sri Ranjini, Pragathi, Kalai Rani and around 50,000 junior artists and 1000 artists from Chennai Sangamam will represent the cultural tradition of South Indian Traditional Arts.
