A day after he 'implicitly' expressed his political plans at a meeting organised by Vijay “Makkal Iyakkam” in Puducherry, Vijay called on Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, giving raise to speculations that he would join the national party.
According to sources, the actor, who called on Rahul after a prior appointment, discussed with him the political situation in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry among other issues.
"I am happy to meet a youth whose vision is to emphasise the country's presence in the global scene with leaders of the younger generation," Vijay reportedly told newsmen after the meeting.
"I am delighted that my son had a meeting with the general secretary of the prominent party of the country. Both discussed for a long time about various issues, which I can’t disclose now," Vijay’s father S A Chandrasekar was quoted as saying.
The Puducherry meeting was organised by Vijay’s Pudhucherry fan club president and PMC MLA, N Anand. Chief Minister of the Union Territory V Vaithilingam and a large number of the actor's fan took part in the event.
