‘Say no for kuthu songs says Vairamuthu

When poet Vairamuthu was speaking to media in Madurai, he said,” Madurai people who are fond of the language are also fond of songs. Here language is Tamilians identity. The ancient culture is safeguarded here. This is the native place of the artists. I have so far written 7000 songs. For each incident there is a song. Film songs have been associated with life right from the cradle to’ graveyard.
In the midst of the melody songs if there is a kuthu song its acceptable. But my wish is that there shouldn’t be many kuthu songs. Though I have been know for soft songs, I have also written kuthu songs like O Podu and Sirichi Sirichi”.
