Kamal Haasan’s tryst with the filmdom began on August 12th, 1960 when his first ever film – Kalathur Kannamma was released. He was presented with the National award for the best child performance for this film.
After 50 years, the star has achieved no mean feat by starring in over 150 films and has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and Bengali. Kamal was also awarded the national award for the best actor in the years 1982, 1987 and 1996 for his films Moondram Pirai, Nayagan and Indian, respectively.
The Kamal Fans Association in Karnataka and their counterparts in Tamil Nadu are gearing up to celebrate the star’s golden jubilee year with much fanfare on August 12th.
The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce is also planning a mega celebration which will kick off in Chennai followed by the cities in southern states.
