The FICCI Media and Entertainment Business Conclave got off to a flying start at the Le Meridien Hotel in Chennai this morning. Inaugurated by the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ambika Soni and the TN Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi in the presence of Yash Chopra, Kamal Haasan, Sarath Kumar, Amit Mishra and several others, the conclave saw a good attendance by the film fraternity in Chennai.The CM gave a rare speech in English and inaugurated the Meet. Speaking about the deep links between social reform, politics, cinema and the Dravidian movement, he also released the Joint study on Entertainment presented by FICCI and Ernst and Young.Ambika Soni announced that piracy would soon be tackled by government initiatives and debates and spoke in grand terms about the dedication to cinema still maintained by the CM to this day, retaining his love for writing and being involved in cinema despite his busy schedule relating to matters of state.She also announced a separate retrospective of Kamal's films to be held in New Delhi next year. "International rules don’t permit more than 3 films in a retrospective and that is too small a number to encapsulate 50 years of kamal's films so that’s why we didn’t include it in the Goa festival."Seen in the audience were AVM Saravanan, Mysskin, Rama Narayanan, KRG, Nasser, G Ramkumar, Katragadda Prasad and many others.
