If you had always associated Dhanush with perky rom-coms with a liberal dosage of comedy and sentiments, look no further. Come Pongal, Dhanush is back with what he does best - armed with his lucky heroine Shriya and director Mitran Jawahar. In Kutty, Dhanush plays the happy-go-lucky guy who falls for the meek college gal who is intimidated into proposing another man forcefully.Remake of the 2004 Telugu blockbuster Arya, Kutty also has Radharavi, Vincent Ashokan and Meghna Naidu in the cast list. We hear Arya ran for about a year in Telugu and catapulted Allu Arjun to the big league. Dhanush is already in that league and the fact that his association with Mitran Jawahar for Yaaradi Nee Mohini proved fruitful and will render positive vibes to the movie.Expect it to be a refresher from the usual rom-coms, the fact which is further corroborated by the print promos and teaser trailers of the movie. The entire movie is set in the backdrop of an apartment, a closed community, which means there will be no dearth of wisecracks and smart one-liners that tickle your funny bone.
Dhanush and Shriya play college-goers and Dhanush commutes to college (only) in his bicycle. There is also Meghna Naidu for the additional glamour quotient; just in case Shriya’s oomph is not sufficient to light the screens on fire. There are also four stunt sequences, choreographed by stunt master Thalapathi Dinesh. We learn that Dhanush’s stunts on the train, shot in Orissa in a running train, will be absolutely gooseflesh inducing. And before we forget, there is also a (item) song performed by Meghna Naidu in a running train. Talking of which, the movie is scored by Devi Sri Prasad who originally scored for the movie in Telugu. There are six songs rendered by Devi Sri Prasad, Kay Kay, Mukesh, Sagar, Sainthavi, Periya Magash and Mukesh.Kutty is produced by Gemini Film Circuit and is currently ready to hit the screens on the auspicious Pongal day, January 14, 2010. Incidentally, Dhanush’s earlier film, Padikkathavan, was also released on Pongal day last year and went on to become a box office success.
