Successful Diwali for Kollywood
It was nearly a long time back, we had some best releases in K-town for the festive occasion of Diwali. With most of the big tickets having been postponed to latter week of November and December, the medium budgeted movies have become a good fare in box office.
Dhanush starrer ‘Uthama Puthiran’ had a good opening has it drew the attention of family audiences. Looks like it will have house packed shows for the next couple of weeks. Shiva’s ‘Va Quarter Cutting’ has been released in lesser prints when compared to Dayanidhi Azhagiri’s previous movies. In most of the suburban areas and towns, the film hasn’t been released while ‘Mynaa’ has an average opening.
The special surprise for this Diwali is Arjun’s ‘Vallakottai’. Filmmaker A Venkatesh had previously focused on just raw commercial ingredients. But for the first time has made an excellent adaptation of Mammooty starrer Malayalam movie ‘Mayavi’. The film has received decorous feedbacks from not just ‘B’ and ‘C’ centres, but amongst few multiplex cohorts as well.
Hollywood’s ‘Street Dancer 3D’ has turned to be a different experience for Chennaites. Particularly the ultra-urban youngsters, who have a vivid fascination for dance, have liked the film. It seems that Silambarasan’s ‘Poda Podi’ too will be based on this concept. ‘Street Dancer’ is about two different dance groups – Elite Ballad and Local Street Dance. How they come together creating a fusion and win the dance competition is the film all about.
