Veteran actress Sukumari takes ill, hospitalized

Chechi, as she is adorably called in Kerala, has been hospitalized following a bout of high fever. The actress, it is believed, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a private hospital in Kodungallur, Thrissur. Sukumari is a diabetic.
Sukumari who was honoured with a Padma Shri Award in 2003 by the Indian Govt. for her extensive work in cinema has contributed to more than 2000 films in Tamil and Malayalam. In 2010 Sukumari won the National Award for the best actress in a supporting role for her performance in 'Namma Grammam.'
Sukumari has been facing the camera right from the time she was 10 years old. She has acted in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada as well as Hindi films and has done the dubbing in all the films she has acted in her own voice. She is now a regular in the small screens.
