Jayam Ravi, who is directing his first movie outside his home banner, has clarified the rumours, which claimed that his Velayudham is a rip-off of Telugu blockbuster Azad. The filmmaker has said that the upcoming Tamil movie is not a remake of the Tollywood film.
The director says that he was somewhat inspired by Azad but he penned the original script for Velayudham on his own. He took only a small portion of the Telugu film and rest other story was written by him. Jayam Raja further explains that the director of the original film, Tirupathi Swamy was his friend and he narrated the story to him before approaching Nagarjuna.
Jayam Raja says that he just took a thread of it and etched the complete story. Hence, he believes that Velayudham is not a remake. However, to be on the safer side, he purchased the remake rights of Azad, concludes the filmmaker.
Velayudham starring Vijay, Genelia D’Souza and Hansika Motwani is a superhero movie, which is hitting the screens for Diwali.
