Its Wrap Up Time for Aadhi Bhagavan!

The protagonist in Aadhi Bhagavan, Jayam Ravi, has confirmed that the shooting of the film has been wrapped up in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Director Ameer and the rest of the team were intent on wrapping up the film with this schedule and have achieved it.

Aadhi Bhagvan has been in the making for long and now with the filming completed, the post-production is expected to begin soon.

Neetu Chandra plays the female lead in this flick. Politician-producer J Anbazhagan is producing this film for which Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music. Details as to the film’s release date will be announced soon, it is expected.

Maatraan Audio Launch in Singapore?

According to sources in the tinsel town, the audio launch of Maatraan is scheduled on August 9th in Singapore. This Suriya starrer is one of the most expected films of the year as movie buffs will get to see the star in dual roles; particularly as conjoined twins.

This is a very novel attempt by director KV Anand and the audiences are simply going to love the way the film has been picturised, states sources.

There are reports that the filmmakers had chosen August 9th to release the audio because it happens to be a national holiday in Singapore.

Actor Amy Jackson lives in Mumbai, works in Chennai

It’s high time that Amy Jackson found an apartment in Chennai as her workload in Kollywood has increased. The English girl who stole the heart of Tamil audiences through Madharasapattinam is currently doing AL Vijay’s Thaandavam and Shankar’s I

Her AL Vijay directed Chiyaan Vikram starrer Thandaavam is getting ready for release, while her Shankar directed I shooting is going on in Chennai. She has offers pouring in from Tamil and Telugu filmmakers.

However, Amy the Liverpool girl prefers to stay in her rented apartment in Bandra in Mumbai with her Ek Tha Diwana co-star Prateik Babbar, with whom she is in a relationship. Remember her Bollywood career failed to take off after her Hindi debut film with Prateik bombed.

Last week Amy was in Chennai shooting continuously for days with Vikram for Shankar’s I. For the weekend she wentback to Mumbai to be near Prateik.

Today morning she is back in Chennai for the trailer launch of her Chiyaan Vikram starrer Thaandavam. If Amy is serious about a career in south films, she should stay put in Chennai.

Actor Asin and Kareena jointly rule Bollywood’s 100 Cr club!

Last weekend was memorable for Asin. Her new release Bol Bachchan touched Rs102 Crore and joined Bollywood’s exclusive Rs 100 Cr club. For the girl from Kochi it is nothing new as Bol Bachchan is her fourth film after Ghajini, Ready and Housefull 2 to join the elite club.

Asin now shares the top spot with Kareena Kapoor who too has four films that figure in the 100 Cr club- 3 Idiots, Golmaal 3, Bodyguard and RA One. Asin in an earlier interview had said: “I am not bothered about numbers, I am happy that it happened with my films. It is not that I was expecting it to happen; it is not in my hands. I enjoyed doing my part”.

Today Asin, is the biggest success story of a girl who made her debut in south Indian films making it big in Bollywood. Down south she has an awesome strike rate at the box-office. Nearly 90 % of the films which she has acted in Tamil and Telugu over a period of five years were super hits.

In Bollywood out of five releases (Ghajini, London Dreams,Ready, Housefull 2 & Bol Bachchan) only one has failed. Today four of her films feature in the Rs 100 Cr club, which is simply amazing.
Asin in an exclusive interview to PTI said: “I am happy I have come this far here (Bollywood) on my own without godfathers, grandfathers or millionaire boyfriends. It is rare for an artist to get acceptance by the north as well as the south audiences, and I have thankfully managed that.”

Her detractors say that she had “oodles of luck at the box-office.” But industry pundits believe that it is a combination of making the right choices of commercial films, hard work and fiery determination to reach the top. Actor Vijay’s surprise visit

Vijay and Prabhu Deva became good friends after working in films like Pokkiri and Villu and continue to hang out. In fact, Vijay even shook a leg for Prabhu Deva’s film Rowdy Rathore with Akshay Kumar. Currently, Vijay is working in Thuppaki and Prabhu Deva has started work on his next Hindi film with Shruti Haasan and Girish.

Prabhu Deva was delighted when Vijay dropped in to visit him at his new house in Mumbai on sunday evening. The two buddies had a great time catching up with each other. We hope they are planning to work together on a film again. It will be a delightful treat for the fans.

Sony Music Got Maatran master Copy

Harris Jayaraj has delivered the master copy of Suriya’s KV Anand directed Maatran music audio to Sony Music.

The Maatran music was mixed and mastered in US, for the first time by Harris.

Sony Music is gung- ho about Maatran audio, which they feel will be chartbuster. There are five songs in the album and as per sources it is sure going to rock.

As per trade sources, Maatran audio is likely to be launched on August 9 in Singapore

Neethaane En Ponvasantham first teaser to release on July 22

Yuvan Shankar Raja crooned and his father Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja composed ‘Saindhu saindhu…’ track from Neethaane En Ponvasantham generated a good hype after Raja spoke about the song on Twitter. Understanding that the audience are curious to get a glimpse of the number, the makers of the movie have decided to release a teaser of the song on July 22.

A source close to the production house said, “The most awaited music album of 2012 is gearing up for release in August. Neethaane En Ponvasantham which brings together Gautham Vasudev Menon and Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja has already created a huge buzz with respect to what this combination has created for audiences worldwide.
”
“And just to tease our audiences a little more, the makers of the film have decided to launch a visual teaser of ‘Saindhu saindhu…’ song popularised by Yuvan shankar raja with his tweets on how he considered himself lucky to have sung it. This teaser will be online this Sunday (July 22).”

Talking about the song, Yuvan has recently tweeted, “I was speechless when I heard the final version. OMG its pure music that is what I call it. Thanks to Gautam for making me sing the song.” This will be the first song visuals from the movie being released apart from the first teaser released on Valentine’s day.

Neethaane En Ponvasantham stars Jeeva in the Tamil version, Nani in Telugu, whereas Aditya Roy Kapoor will feature in the Hindi version. Samantha is playing the female lead in all three instalments.

Viswaroopam to Get a Solo Release?

Sources in Kollywood say that Kamal Haasan is eyeing August 24th to release his magnum opus Viswaroopam. Kamal, who has also directed this film, is planning to release both the Tamil and Hindi versions simultaneously.

With no Bollywood films slated for release on that week, Kamal’s Viswaroop has a bright chance of making it as a solo release, say trade sources.

Viswaroopam has been shot extensively in foreign locations such as Jordan and US. The film stars Kamal in the lead with Pooja Kumar and Andrea as his lead pairs. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have scored the music for this film.

Actress Khushbu, Big B movie on track?

Two years back, director Revathy S Varma (who made June R with Jyothika and Suriya) had cast Amitabh Bachchan to play the lead in her Bollywood film Mad Dad. She had also roped in actress Khushbu, who had played a crucial role in June R, to play the wife of Big B. However, the project was stalled on account of the Bollywood superstar’s illness.

While the director is currently making the film in Malayalam with actor Lal, TV host Nazriya Nazim and Meghna Raj, we hear that she is also trying to resuscitate the project in Hindi as well.

The filmmaker, who is currently busy with the post production work for the Malayalam film, confirmed that she plans to remake the film in Hindi. “I’m not aware of the current availability status of the actors as I’ve been concentrating on the Malayalam film. But, some interested Bollywood producers have also suggested that we could make the film with Sanjay Dutt, in case Amitabh Bachchan is unavailable,” she said.

When we contacted actress Khusbhu, she said, “Yes, I had been approached and agreed to do the film two years back. But I don’t know the status of the project now.”

One Bollywood & One South African as villains in Singam 2!

The new trend in Kollywood is to have villains imported from Bollywood and from foreign lands.

The bad guys in Ajith’s Billa 2- Vidyut Jamwal, Sudhanshu Pandey were instant hits with the Tamil audiences.

Now director Hari is getting two deadly villains, to take on Suriya in Singam 2. They are the popular Bollywood and Tollywood bad guy Mukesh Rishi and a new actor from Cape Town in South Africa.

Mukesh Rishi had acted as villain opposite Vijayakanth in Vallarasu and had done innumerable villain roles in various Telugu mass masalas.

Hari will be flying to south Africa to do an audition and select an actor to play the all-important pivotal villain role.

Singam 2 has Suriya, Anushka and Hansika in lead roles with Devi Sri Prasad providing the music.

ARR has contributed to the music of this film although it's not very clear of what he composed or worked on. Remember, ARR and Hans earlier worked together in Oscar Sangamam.

Director Prabhu Deva Gets Shruti on-Board

The news is official! Shruti Haasan has signed a Bollywood flick. There was a buzz that the pretty actress may join the star cast of Prabhu Deva’s next. It has now been confirmed that she will play the female in the film to be directed by Prabhu.

Shruti will be paired opposite Girish Taurani, a debutant. The film, which has not been titled yet, will be produced by Tips Kumar Taurani.

Shruti’s foray into Bollywood was with the Bollywood film Luck and she has been successfully concentrating in the regional languages as well. With Prabhu Deva having back-to-back hits in Hindi – Wanted and Rowdy Rathore – movie buffs are expecting a lot more from him!

Actor Rajesh Khanna No More

It is indeed a saddest day in the history of Indian cinema with Bollywood’s first Superstar Rajesh Khanna passing away today. The end of this 69-year-old came at his residence. Rajesh Khanna has been suffering from health issues for long and was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for treatment. He was discharged from the hospital recently after his health condition improved. Unfortunately, Rakesh Khanna’s health suffered a major setback today morning and his end came.

Rajesh Khanna leaves behind his estranged wife and actress Dimple Kapadia , whom he divorced in 1984, and the couple has two daughters Twinkle Khanna and Rinke Khanna out of the wedlock.

The entire film industry is bereaving his death and film personalities are making a beeline to his residence to pay their last respects.

Actress Samantha Teams Up With Nandini Reddy

Samantha, who is currently busy with the Telugu film Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, will turn to Nandini Reddy’s project from July 20th onwards. The actress is riding on the success of Naan Ee and has several projects lined up needing her attention.

Her next film in the pipeline will be directed by Nandini Reddy. Thaman has been roped in to score the music for this film.

Director Hari Reveals About Singam 2

Director Hari revealed about Singam 2 recently. The director said that he has retained the same set of actors who had acted in Singam except Prakash Raj. Also, Hansika will be a new addition to the star cast apart from Bollywood actor Mukesh and a South African actor. While Anushka plays an industrialist daughter, Hansika will be seen as a college student. Manorama and Vivek, who were in the prequel, have also been retained.

Hari also disclosed that Suriya will be seen in two different get-ups in this film which is set in Thoothukudi. The director is planning to film the climax portions in some great location in South Africa, we hear.

Actor Karthi's Alex Pandian – Release Date Here!

Actor Ajith Kumar’s Billa 2 doing wonders at Box Office

The star power of Ajith Kumar is working big time again. Despite getting mixed reviews from critics and audience, the movie has made a stunning business at the Box Office in the first weekend.

According to the traders, Billa 2 has earned around Rs 19 crore nett in the first weekend in Tamil Nadu. The movie, which was released on July 13, ran into packed houses in most of the theatres in Tamil Nadu. On an average, the occupancy at cinema halls for the movie was 95% in single screens as well as multiplexes.

As far as the international Box Office is concerned, the movie has collected approximately Rs 30.69 lakhs (UK£35,930) nett at the UK Box Office on the first day and on Saturday, it raked in approximately 17.61 lakhs (£20,620).

At Australian Box Office, it has collected approximately 13.72 lakhs (A$24,469) and 8.90 lakhs (A$15,874) on Friday and Saturday, respectively. At the US, Billa 2 grossed 35.10 lakhs and 22.09 lakhs approximately on Friday and Saturday at reported screens and the figure might be bigger when the complete report is out.

Actor Bruce Lee Vs Dragon in Kollywood

Jiiva is Kollywood’s own Bruce Lee. And he’s going to be pitted against the revengeful Dragon, Narain.

Before you let your imagination run wild, let’s tell you we are talking about their characters in Mugamoodi, directed by Mysskin.

The film, a superhero story, has Jiiva and Narain playing the protagonist and the antagonist, and to create a hype, the makers have called their characters Bruce Lee and Dragon.

The makers have even printed an invitation to the audio launch with the character names. While Pooja Hegde will play Shakthi, also Bruce Lee’s goal in life, veteran actor Girish Karnad plays the Grand Father, a scientist.

Director Shankar - Vikram film goes on floors

Shankar's fresh project I, with Vikram in the lead, is expected to hit the floors on Sunday (July 15). The film will get a kick start at a studio in Chennai.

It is said the first look of the movie will also be unveiled on Sunday. I, a romantic thriller, brings together Shankar, Vikram and producer Aascar V Ravichandran after the mega hit 'Anniyan'.

"The script work is over and writers Suba have done a great job. Shankar is happy with the writer duo since he was on the lookout for a right replacement after the demise of Sujatha," say sources.

Amy Jackson is the leading lady of I, which has music by A R Rahman. Amy plays an international model in this film. International technicians have been roped in for the movie, which has Suresh Gopi, Ramkumar and others in pivotal roles.

Actress Tamannaah turns nerdy

Billa 2 Movie Review

A prequel to Billa the remake of Rajinikanth's original classic, Billa 2 is the story of a Sri Lankan refugee, David Billa (Ajith), who has lost his parents and arrives at Rameshwaram as a refugee. He then decides to revolt against the authorities for ill-treating his fellow refugees in the refugee camp.

David makes use of the opportunities which come his way and wins the trust of a powerful don and becomes his assistant. He then goes on to become the crime king.

One day David comes in contact with mafia druglord Abbasi (Sudhanshu Pandey) and starts working for him. Soon, Abbasi gets insecure with Billa's growth and things which were going in favour of David Billa, suddenly take a u-turn as he faces problem with Dimitri (Vidyut Jamal), an arms dealer.

David and Abbasi part ways and David moves further to build his own empire.

Ajith has performed action scenes with ease and has given an impressive performance. Sudhanshu Pandey,too, is perfect in the role of Abbasi.

Cinematograpy by RD Rajasekhar is extraordinary, but the editing of the film is average.

Screenplay and narration also fails to impress.

Billa 2 can be watched for its action sequences, decent music and interesting locations.

Actress Kajal Aggarwals double bonanza

While Kajal Aggarwal may be missing in action for a while on Kollywood screens, she’s all set to return with a bang in the coming months, as she’s part of two of the most-awaited releases.

Billa 2 rocks, say fans

Billa 2 has released! And fans of Ajith, who is fondly called Thala, have been eagerly waiting to catch this much-awaited flick on the big screen. The mood among fans seems to be upbeat, going by the response on the Internet and Twitter, with fans gushing about their favourite star, stating that ‘Thala always rocks.’

The highlight of the film, according to many, has been the action scenes. It seems the sequences, which have been choreographed in Hyderabad and Goa, has been made ‘real’. Few days back microblogging sites witnessed a small brash in between a Suriya fanatic and ARM Murugadoss. Now KV Anand has diplomatically reacted stating "Vijay - Mass + AR Murugadoss - Class, as a fan I can't wait to watch Thupaki'!

Earlier a Suriya fanatic tweeted AR Murugadoss - "Maatraan going to rule this year... Others just stay away from it... Suriya = Class + Mass". ARM promptly replied to this, "Paappa thalli poi vilayadu" (Kid, go play elsewhere).

Remember both the films are aiming for an August 15 release. It may be mentioned, last year Diwali, both Velayudham and 7aum Arivu released together.

Actor Prabhu Dheva gets Sonakshi drunk!

Everyone might be raving about the way Sonakshi Sinha has presented herself in the song, Govinda… for Akshay Kumar’s Oh My God!, but there’s a little secret behind that ‘uninhibited me’ look of hers!

Finally director K V Anand has revealed the secret about Maatran. Yes, the first look and teaser of the movie was released in Chennai.

Suriya plays a conjoined twins(Vimalan and Akilan) in the movie, being produced by AGS Entertainment. Speaking at the event, Anand said, ‘ the Ayan team includingh Suriya, Harris Jayaraj, Suba and myself are back.

Maatran will be more special for it is a Suriya’s special. He plays a conjoined twin which is no easy task. The effort an actor has to put for two films is what Suriya has given for Maatran’.

He said the idea to do a movie on conjoined twin was in his mind for a long time and was waiting for an appropriate time. It needed a strong technical backing and a huge production cost. Thanks to AGS Entertainments, it has become a reality’.

On his part, Suriya heaped laurels on Anand for coming up with an innovative story. He said, ‘ whenever I felt whether I could pull it off, Anand gave me the courage. It was a challenging role and I enjoyed the experience’.

Suriya plays two contrasting characters. While Vimalan of the conjoined twin is a soft-spoken youth with communist ideology, Akilan if a fun-loving freaky youth.

Anand said, ‘plans are on to release the audio soon, while the movie Will be released once the huge computer graphic works are completed’.

Actress Neetu Chandra’s action thriller incomplete

The Tamil action thriller is almost complete, post production is on and the film will soon hit the theaters. Aadhi Bhagavan is written and directed by Ameer Sultan.

Neetu Chandra, who flew to Cyprus for her first Greek film during the shoot of Aadhi Bhagavan, is yet to complete one sequence in the film. In the meanwhile, Jayam Ravi, the male lead of the film began shooting his next film. The makers are now finding it difficult to get a combined free date from the two stars.

The film was rumoured to see Jayam Ravi play double role, of which one would be a transgender. But in a recent interview Ameer denied the story and said that Jayam will be seen donning several attires, as he plays a CBI officer (we are guessing it’s undercover). The director also revealed that the narrative begins in Andhra, which then travels through Bangkok and Mumbai and finally ends in Goa.

‘Billa II is a visual treat’

The stage is set, and Thala fans are in for a treat. With Billa II hitting screens early tomorrow morning, can Ajith recreate his Mankatha madness of last year?

Even as his fans nod a big yes, the makers are equally confident too!

Suni Kheterpal, one of the producers of the much-anticipated Billa II, says casting for this Ajith flick was a meticulous process. “As the Film travels across Tamil Nadu, Goa and Eastern Europe, we worked on characterization of lead actors and then picked up the best available for specific roles. That’s why, you will see Cast from Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam and Hindi film industries in it. Hand-picking crew was relatively easier though. We knew what kind of action was required and then went out to get the best guys possible,” he says.

He concludes, “The audiences are in for a treat. Anyone who loves Ajith, action, the Billa franchise, style, rawness and novelty is going to go in for repeat viewing.”

Billa 2: Ajith’s actions stun the stunt team

Ajith Kumar’s stunt sequences seen in Billa 2 trailers have taken the Thala fans by storm, thereby generating a huge hype on the action quotient of the movie. In fact, his humility and daredevil performances have impressed the stunt direction team too.

Kecha Khamphakdee, who is the stunt co-ordinator of Billa 2, said that Ajith Kumar has done a tremendous job and it will be a treat for his fans to watch their hero in the daredevilry acts. Especially, the near death defying helicopter stunt will impress the audience. The actor has brought great intensity to sharp and powerful scenes.

During the shooting of Billa 2 in Georgia, they had a tough time shooting action sequences when the weather was extremely cold and the location was suddenly hit by a huge snowstorm. But when I saw how Ajith jumped off the helicopter and hung on one hand, my blood froze in my veins!”

Actor Santhanam turns producer!

Santhanam has turned producer and launched his own banner Hand Pad Films. He is producing a film titled Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaya along with Ramanarayanan’s Thenandal Films.

The title Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaya is inspired from the ad campaign of a popular chocolate brand.

Santhanam is teamed up with ‘Power Star’ Dr Srinivasan in the film a full length laugh riot. Visaka is the heroine.

The others in the star cast are VTV Ganesh , Mayil Samy and Kovai Sarala. The film is directed by Manigandan with camera by Balasubramaniyam and music by Thaman.

Actor Dara Singh Passes Away

Wrestler and popular actor Dara Singh passed away at his residence in Mumbai today morning. He was 84. Dara Singh, who owns the Dara Studio at Mohali, has also directed a number of films. Some of the films that he had directed included Unkhilli Muttiar, Rustom, and Mera Desh Mera Dharam. He has acted in several films like Jab We Met, Dillagi, Guru Gobind Singh, and Ramu Ustad.

For many, Dara Singh is the real-life Hanuman as he became immensely popular among kids for his role as Lord Hanuman in the television series Mahabharat telecast in 1988 and in Ramayan.

Billa II: Second big release after Endhiran

Billa 2 is all set to become one of the biggest releases of Ajith Kumar’s career. The movie, which is hitting screens this Friday (July 13), is said to be the second big release after superstar Rajinikanth’s Endhiran – The Robot.

Rajinikanth’s Endhiran was released in 2,050 screens in multiple languages. On the other end, Ajith Kumar’s Billa 2 is ready to release in 1,200 screens, which is the highest for a Tamil movie in the current year.
Reports say that in the US alone, it is being premiered in about 34 screens in 28 states on July 12. ATMUS Entertainment in association with GK Media, the overseas distributor which holds the rights of Billa 2 worldwide, is distributing the movie.
In Tamil Nadu, Billa 2 is hitting in over 500 screens. The Telugu dubbed version will be released as David Billa. Both Tamil and Telugu versions will be released in Karnataka. The film is also being released with subtitles in France, Malaysia and Arabia.
The movie, which is a sequel to Billa, also features Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, and Vidyut Jamwal in the important roles. The film, directed by Chakri Toleti, tells the story of David Billa’s transformation from an ordinary man to underworld kingpin.

Director Shankar Appreciates Naan Ee

Before the release of Naan Ee, there were a lot of expectations on this new genre film directed by SS Rajamouli. And after its release, it is not just the movie buffs but the celebrities are also raving about the film. Ace director Shankar had seen Naan Ee at the Devi Cineplex on July 8th, 2012, and has recorded at the Visitor’s Book there that it is a ‘Super Film.’

Though Naan Ee doesn’t boast of a big star cast, the film is appreciated by one and all for director SS Rajamouli’s unique idea, Sudeep’s extraordinary performance, and Maragadhamani’s background score.
