82nd Oscar Awards- Kathryn Bigelow gift to women folks on the International Women’s Day. The Hollywood film The Heart Locker bagged six Oscar Awards at the 82nd Oscar Awards function held Los Angeles on Sunday evening. The film Avatar which rocked the world in collections was able to grab only three awards. The best films for the last year were announced and this glittering mammoth function was held on Sunday evening at Kodak Auditorium. Famous Hollywood and international actors and actresses including Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica participated in this function. The film Hurt Locker which bagged awards in six categories is about a United States Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team during the Iraq invasion.To get a realistic feeling “The Hurt Locker” was shot in Jordan – that’s miles close to Iraq. Though the film was directed by a woman, this film does not have a single female in this film. Kathryn Bigelow, the woman who directed this film got the best director award. It is relevant to note that she is the first woman to get the best director’s award in the 82 years of Oscars. She is the ex wife of James Cameron who directed Avatar.Hurt Locker got the award for the best film, best director, best sound mixing, and best screenplay and editing. Though the film Avatar directed by James Cameroon of Titanic fame rocked the box office, it only awards in three categories. It got the award for best cinematography, art direction and best visual effects. Jef Bridges got the best actor award for the film Crazy Heart. Sandra Bullock got the best actress for the acting in the film The Blind Side. The best foreign film award went to the Argentina film El Secreto de Sus Ojos (The secret in their eyes). The full length documentary on killing of dolphins in the film The Cove won the best documentary film award.
