Arjun, Gouthami and Vinu Chakravarthi appeared before a CBI court in Chennai on Friday, as prosecution witnesses in a bank fraud case.
According to reports, the Central agency has cited these stars along with music composer Illayaraja as witnesses in a case against Sundarambal of Sudha International Films.
According to the CBI, Sundarambal obtained a loan of Rs four lakh from the Triplicane branch of the Indian Bank in 1988, claiming that it was required for a film titled ‘Agni Valayam.’
Since the amount was not repaid, the CBI registered a case against the branch manager Sundararaman, regional manager Natarajan and producer Sundarambal.
On Friday, the actors told the special judge for CBI bank fraud cases, S Rangaraj that they had no knowledge about the loan and their names had been misused by the accused. The judge has posted the matter to October 1.
