Vijaykanth ready with his directorial venture ‘Virudhagiri’

Actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth, who has been around in the industry for close to three decades now, has been making his first-ever directorial venture titled ‘Virudhagiri’ for quite some time now. The film was launched late last year and is still in the making. Obviously, the film stars him as the hero!

The shooting of the film was getting delayed for a variety of reasons: first was Vijaykanth’s political commitments and campaigning in the bye-elections and the second was the ‘disappearance’ of the heroine who later had to be ‘traced’ and brought back. Now, all the worries are ‘things of the past’ as Vijaykanth has successfully wrapped up the entire shooting of the film.

While Vijaykanth wants the film to release in time before the State Assembly elections scheduled for March/April next year, his brother-in-law and producer Sudeesh thinks otherwise: he wants the film to get into the Deepavali race as no major film is hitting the screen this Deepavali. Since Rajni’s ‘Enthiran’ is already out in theatres, Sudeesh wants Vijaykanth’s film to lead the race.

Vijaykanth, however, thinks differently. The film, which has dialogues by Vijaykanth himself, reportedly has plenty of dialogues taking a dig at both Kalaignar and ‘Amma’ of AIADMK. As such, Vijaykanth wants to delay the release of the film till March next year by which time the electoral alliances in Tamil Nadu would have taken a final shape, including the stance of his own political party.

That would provide him with an opportunity to remove ‘one set’ of attacking dialogues (depending upon whose alliance he gets into) and release the film just before the elections and garner some political mileage, Vijaykanth feels!
