Will Captain Vijayakanth Make It Happen?

Later reports are that Captain Vijayakanth has been invited to launch the audio of Johnny starrer ’18 Vayasu’. The film is directed by Panneer Selvam of ‘Renigunta’ fame and is produced by Johnny’s father-producer S.S. Chakravarthy of Nic Arts. The film’s shooting rapidly moving towards the completion and the makers have decided to launch the audio by July 14, 2011.

It seems that Captain Vijayakanth has been approached by S.S. Chakravarthy for the audio launch while rest of the celebrities’ list is yet to be confirmed.

It is worth mentioning that Vijayakanth was present for the audio launch of Johnny’s previous film ‘Renigunta’ as well. It looks like the producers want to streak with the lucky factor and that must be the reason behind this invitation.

Deiva Thirumagal makes it without cuts!

Vikram’s next release in the pipeline, Deiva Thirumagal has been censored by the officials today. The film has come out with a clean U certificate and none of the officials advocated any cut whatsoever.
The film was appreciated by the officials and they praised director AL Vijay and hero Vikram from coming out with a wonderful film. The members also mentioned that it was a privilege to watch such a fantastic movie.
Deiva Thirumagal stars Vikram, Anushka, Amala Paul and Santhanam. GV Prakash has scored the music for this flick. The release date of Deiva Thirumagal is announced as 15th July.

Will Bharathiraja, Ilayaraja and Vairamuthu join hands again?

It is the dream of every movie buff to see the most successful combination in the Tamil film industry – Bharathiraja, Ilayaraja and Vairamuthu – joining hands once again. There erupted some ego issues between Ilayaraja and Vairamuthu several years ago and both consciously avoided working with each other.
So, when Bharathiraja announced his upcoming venture Annakodiyum Kodi Veeranum, there was an expectation that he may somehow manage to bridge the gap between Ilayaraja and Vairamuthu.
But this seems to be a distant possibility. Bharathiraja has said that there are a lot of differences of opinion and it may not be sorted out so easily.

Will it be Aishwarya or Chimbu Devan for Dhanush?

Dhanush has said that he will team up with Chimbu Devan soon. He clarified that the project, which made it to the news sometime ago, is very much on. The actor said that it is still in the pre-production stages and he will inform about its commencement soon.
The star, it may be recalled, has confirmed already that his wife Aishwarya will direct him, and the preparation for it is on. It needs to be seen if he will do both the projects simultaneously.

It's time to shoot 'Maatran'

Now that Suriya has completed '7am Arivu' and K V Anand is ready with the complete script of 'Maatran', it's time for the duo to start the film. We learn that the movie would go on floors after the wedding of Karthi, Suriya's younger brother.

"Suriya is extremely busy these days making arrangements and inviting friends and relatives for Karthi's marriage in Coimbatore (July 3) and reception in Chennai (July 7). He will be free only in the second week of July," say sources.

"Before the shoot, Suriya has to do some homework for his getup in Maatran, as Anand has asked for a more suave and stylish look of him. The shoot may start with a song which will be shot in an exotic locale," they add.

Produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram's AGS Entertainment, 'Maatran' brings together Suriya and Anand after the super hit 'Ayan'. Other members of the 'Ayan' team - music composer Harris Jayaraj and writers Subha are also there in 'Maatran'.

Sonakshi out, but is Deepika in?

Sonakshi was the initial choice of Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer 'Rana' that will kick start shortly. But then, since Rajinikanth didn't find it right or ethical to pair opposite his friend (Shatrugan Sinha)'s daughter, the team considered Deepika Padukone, who was roped in immediately.

All that's past, yes, but looks like something similar is to take place soon.

Media in North is abuzz that Sonakshi Sinha has opted out of Kamal Haasan's 'Viswaroopam' due to her date clashes with prior commitments. Although the actress was thoroughly enthused to play Kamal's wife in her K'town debut, things took a turn.

'Viswaroopam' was initially supposed to be directed by Selvaraghavan who walked out of the project citing time crunch, following which, Kamal Haasan came forward to wield the megaphone. This has led to some further delay on the project which has led to a clash of dates for Sonakshi, who seems to have opted out of the project and wants to stick to her earlier commitment, but wait, the official word is not yet out.

It is also said that Kamal Haasan has already started his hunt for his lady love, and Deepika is the likely choice.

However we�ll have to wait to know of who bags this role opposite Kamal...

What is VTV Ganesh doing in 'Osthi'?

Post 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya' we all are aware about the friendship between Simbu and the now popularly known 'VTV' Ganesh. The chemistry between Simbu and Ganesh has worked well for this pair on and off screen too, because we saw Ganesh, who was one of the producers of the film also bag a role as Simbu's companion in 'Vaanam.'

Simbu is working full throttle in director Dharani's 'Osthi', the remake of Bollywood's 'Dabangg', a cop story, but with a difference. While some are wondering if Ganesh will be seen in a pivotal role in 'Osthi' too, here comes this piece of news to all those who are eager to know...

Reports are doing the rounds that Ganesh will be seen in a prominent role in this upcoming Simbu film. He will be reprising the role done by Mahesh Manjerekar in 'Dabangg' as the drunken father of the heroine. Sources have also suggested that the film's comic track will be done by Simbu and Ganesh. They have proved their timing with comedy in their earlier films. In 'Osthi' too this duo sure needs to be watched out for!

Kajal is out and Shruti is in!

Kajal Agarwal was supposed to do the Telugu remake of Dabangg with Pawan Kalyan. But due to certain differences with her director, she was shown the door. This altercation worked out for Shruti Hassan, as she was immediately offered the meaty role which catapulted Sonakshi Sinha, who did the Hindi version opposite Salman Khan into superstardom.

Shruti also has a film with Jr. NTR and another film with Siddharth. The singer/actor's career in Telugu films is red hot right now. In Tamil, she has 7am Arivu with Suirya directed by Murugadoss. 'Mankatha' that is directed by Venkat Prabhu features Ajith, Arjun, Trisha, Vaibhav, Lakshmi Rai, Andrea Jeremiah and Premji essaying lead roles and is produced by Cloud Nine Movies of Dhayanidhi Alagari.

The film revolves around mafia gambling set during the Indian Premier League. The tracks have been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the single track, 'Vilayaadu Mankatha...' that released in May is already a chartbuster.

The shooting of this film has taken place in Chennai, Malaysia and Bangalore. Next I am acting in the Tamil films Nandha Nandhitha and Kalla Sirippu Azhaga. I am acting in two Malayalam films and in one Kannada film.
I also want to act in village based roles apart from glamour roles. My role in Nandha Nanditha has a touch of village. Many are asking me that among Nayanthara, Trisha and Shreya whose place I am going to capture. Nobody can capture their places. But I will get a place for myself.
Many are also asking me that whether I will act with swim suits. Nobody as so far approached with this kind of role. If someone approaches, then I will decide about it."

One more heroine makes it to Bollywood

Samantha, the heroine in Bana Kathadi and the critically-acclaimed Moscowin Kaveri, has been signed up for a Hindi flick. The actress is excited to bag the offer to star in Bol Bachchan, a film that stars Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn.
Samantha says that director Rohit Shetty approached her with the role because he needed a south Indian face to play that particular character. She has two Telugu films – Dookudu and Eega – in her kitty right now. The actress says that she is happy over the way her career is shaping up and is looking to make it big in Bollywood too.

Amala Paul says no to Mollywood

Denying media reports that she would act opposite Prithviraj in a Malayalam film titled 'Indian Rupee' and directed by Renjith, 'Mynaa' girl Amala Paul has said she had no dates to accommodate for the film.

"It was true that I was approached to be part of the film. But the fact is that I had already allotted bulk dates to my earlier commitments. So I had no other option than saying no to the Mollywood project," she said.

Saying that she would however love to do a Malayalam film, Amala Paul says, "I started my acting career only from Mollywood. Though my priority is Kollywood now, I would do a Malayalam film if a meaty offer comes my way."

Amala Paul is currently busy shooting for Lingusamy's 'Vettai', which has Arya and Madhavan in lead roles. Besides, she is eagerly awaiting the release of Vikram-starrer 'Dheiva Thirumagal', directed by A L Vijay.

Karthi, for a cause

Karthi Sivakumar has become the cause ambassador for Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSD), and called for support from the media to create greater awareness on the disorder so that, many would come forward to help the affected children.

Talking to journalists in Chennai on Saturday, the actor said, "Experts in the field say only six out of 40 LSDs can be cured through treatment such as enzyme replacement therapy. I request corporate firms and other institutions to donate to the cause and lend a helping hand to the affected children."

LSDs occur when the lysosome, the recycling centre of the cell, malfunctions, resulting in the breakdown in the cell. Depending on the area where the cell destruction happens, the patients suffer from organ failures and muscular disabilities.

This is not the first time for Karthi to lend a hand for a cause. Recently, he adopted a white tiger named Namratha at Vandalur zoo and contributed Rs 72,000 (which would cover six months of her expenses).

He said, "Awareness has to be created in the need to protect the animals, and I would like to visit the various wildlife sanctuaries during my free time."

A special screening of the Pillaiyar Theru Kadeisi Veedu was showcased for actors like Silambarasan, Karthi, Jiiva, Bharath, Vishal, Bhagyaraj, Sibiraj, SP Jananathan and others at the Four Frames Theatre in Chennai.
All those who had come to this screening said that they were expecting a comedy flick but were surprised at the turn of events after the interval. Everyone present lauded the efforts of Jithan Ramesh and were positive that PTKV would turn out to be a re-entry for its lead star.
The locations in which the film was shot awed those present at the show. Jiiva said that he never realized that such locations existed within Tamil Nadu. There are several twists and turns in the film and director Thirumalai Kishore has managed to keep the suspense factor intact said the stars.

Vikram's Rajapaattai producer arrested

Ramesh, the producer of Vikram's Rajapattai to be directed by Suseendhiran has been arrested at his Velacherry home, in Chennai. The CID have been on his trail for the past five months and have finally apprehended him. A complaint was registered against him, by film financier, Jayendra Reddy who accused Ramesh of threatening him with violence if he failed to pay back the 7.5 crores that he was owed.
The financier also named Bhanu Kiran in the complaint. Bhanu Kiran is wanted as he is the prime accused in the recent killing of Maddhelacheruvu Suri. According to the police, it was Bhanu who gunned down Suri. The life of this gangster was made as Rathasarithiram by Ram Gopal Varam with Suriya playing his character in the movie. The police have tracked down Ramesh in the hope that he will lead them to Bhanu.
There have been other charges against Ramesh, ranging from extortion to fraud. He has been accused of cheating by Shalimar videos over the rights for the Telugu film, Komaram Puli, directed by SJ Suriyah and starring Pawan Kalyan.

Kajal Agarwal clarifies a misconception

Kajal Agarwal is currently busy in B'town with her Hindi remake of our Tamil blockbuster 'Singam,' that boasted off Suriya and Anushka in the lead roles. The movie is titled 'Singham' in Hindi and she is cast opposite Ajay Devghn.

While speaking to a media house, her comment that she never considered herself a South actress sparked off a controversy. An English daily broke the news on her statements, and the South Indian film fraternity lashed out against her and demanded an apology.

Many directors expressed that the South Indian Film Chamber must ban her from doing films in South. Shocked at the reaction, Kajal claimed that she didn't mean to offend South filmmakers or the industry.

She clarified that the journalist misunderstood her and therefore there was a 'miscommunication'. Talking to a few media personnel she said that she will continue to do South films and expressed her liking towards South Indian movies, where she started off her career as an actress.

Prabhu Deva's director announces next

Thangar Bachan has just completed his Kalavadiya Pozhudugal with Prabhu Deva. This film, which has Prabhu  Deva in what is supposed to be the role of his lifetime, is all set to hit the screens soon. Bhumika Chawla is the heroine. Prakash Raj and Ganja Karuppu will be seen in supporting roles. Sathyaraj has done a special guest appearance as Periyar.
The director has announced his next project which will be called Meendum Mazhai Peiyalam. This film will be set in a rustic milieu and will try to capture the village sentiment perfectly. Thangar Bachan has said that he has a top hero and heroine in mind for the main roles and will announce their names soon.
Once this film is wrapped up, the ace director will begin a film with Vimal.

Sasi Kumar’s new introduction

Jeeva puts on a ‘Mugamoodi’

Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that Jeeva has been roped in to act under Mysskin’s direction in the latter’s key venture, ‘Mugamoodi,’ and for which the hero will be sporting a never-seen-before look.

Jeeva is currently busy with the shoot of ‘Nanban’ and it is said that after finishing this project under Shankar, he will be taking a short break and proceeding with ‘Mugamoodi.’

We had earlier informed you that Mysskin had first approached Suriya for ‘Mugamoodi,’ but it did not work out due to the high budgets, he later approached a few upcoming heroes and then producers didn’t favour him.

Now it looks like, producers have come forward for this as Jeeva has risen to a star status after delivering a blockbuster hit through ‘Ko.’

The movie deals with a superhero who fights away the dark sides of the society and those close to the director vouch that it will be a perfect family entertainer-cum-thriller.

The team will see funding by a leading corporate company in Mumbai, special effects by a Los Angeles company. What more can a Tamil cinema fan ask for?

The filming will start this August, after ‘Nanban’s completion, and will be a 2012-mid release…

Vijay plays a cop in ‘Pagalavan’

Looks like the Seeman – Vijay duo is keen on starting ‘Pagalavan’ right after Vijay finishes up with ‘Nanban,’ a multi-starrer under Shankar’s direction.

We had earlier told you the script consisted of a doctor Vijay, who plays the role of Pugazhendi and serves the poor in a village and then fights a mafia who deals with expired medicines.

But now, Seeman has brought about certain changes in ‘Pagalavan’s script, making it a whole-new-package altogether!

This new aspect will show a young Vijay fighting for a cause, against the privatization of certain sectors by the Government. ‘Pagalavan’ will see a rough-tough war between Vijay who is a doctor and a police officer.  And during these fights, Vijay realizes he can do better for the common man if he is a part of the police force.

He then studies IPS, rises to power as a police official in the society and puts an end to the mafia who is dealing with expired medicines.

So yes, Vijay dons the avatar of a doctor and later a police officer in ‘Pagalavan.’ We must remember that Vijay’s earlier movie where he played a cop - ‘Pokkiri’ was a blockbuster.

Everything is progressing faster than before with Shankar’s ‘Nanban’. Right from Day 1, there hasn’t been any delays over shooting schedule. It looks like the film will be wrapped up earliest before New Year 2012.

Recently the scenes involving Jeeva, Srikanth, Ileana and Sathyaraj were shot in Chennai while Vijay was busy with ‘Velayudham’. Now he is finally back to ‘Nanban’ joining together with Jeeva and Srikanth.

These are some of the scenes that will have the trio rocking together while Ileana has left to Mumbai for the shooting of her Hindi debut movie ‘Barfee’.

Vaanam crosses 50 day mark

Vaanam, the remake of Telugu super hit Vedam, directed by Krish, has crossed the 50-day milestone. It has set the cash registers ringing and is being touted as one of the biggest hits of the year. The multi-starrer cast of Vaanam with Silambarasan, Bharath, and Anushka must be celebrating.
STR who says he watches all of Telugu superstar Allu Arjun's films says that he knew that he had to make Vedam in Tamil and immediately made the suggestion to VTV Ganesh who agreed. And the rest as they say is history. Looks like Silambarasan's instincts were bang on this time.

Siddarth Waits For Luck

Siddarth had a finest start in Kollywood working with director Shankar in ‘Boys’ and Manirathnam in ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’. ‘Nootrenbadu’ will be hitting screens on June 25 and the colorful promos, captivating songs have raised everyone’s expectations.

Anushka finally talks about her engagement

Though Anushka decided to keep mum about reports that she got engaged to Naga Chaitanya, son of Nagarajuna, initially, she broke her silence after the situation got worse with the rumors spreading like wildfire.
The actress questioned that how the media can publish such reports without clarifying with her. She maintained that there was no such engagement, as stated by the media. Anushka added that Naga Chaitanya is much younger to her and she is in no way connected to him.
The lady also said that she is in love with someone else but would not reveal about him now.

Two more heroines for Silambarasan?

Silambarasan's next is with Nelson and is called Vettai Mannan. Deeksha Seth will play one of the female leads in this film. Apparently there are two more heroine spots that need to be filled. STR had suggested Asin but Nelson wants someone who is just two or three films old. Bubbly Piaa Bajpai who impressed in Ko is hot stuff at present and is in strong contention for one of the heroine roles.
The other role may go to Amrita Rao, the elder sister of Preetika, who was seen in Chikku Bukku with Arya. But Amrita is extremely choosy when it come to giving the green signal for South Indian projects. She has done only one Telugu film with Mahesh Babu which was a huge hit. She was flooded with offers after that but she is yet to sign anything in these parts. If she is not finalized for the role, others from Bollywood will be considered.
Silambarasan plays a killer in this film, which is being shot in Chennai and Brazil. Jai also has a good role in this film.

Jayam Ravi with Kamal Haasan

Answering a question on which actor he would like to share the screen space with, if a film offered to him is a multi-starrer, Jayam Ravi has said that he would love to star alongside Kamal Haasan.
Jayam Ravi has said that he is not averse to multi-starrers as it has become very common these days because the young generation stars share a good and healthy friendship. The star said that currently the shooting of Aadhi Bhagwan is in progress and this film may most probably be released by this year end. He revealed that his next project in the pipeline is Boologam.

Massive opening for Avan Ivan

Bala, Arya and Vishal couldn’t have asked for more. Yes, Avan Ivan and its Telugu version Vaadu Veedu, which released today, took a massive opening. The online booking for the first three days was over within the first few hours the booking opened.
This left many fans with no other option but to wait in the long queues at the theatres since morning to get their tickets. While some were lucky to get their tickets for the show, several others had to return home empty-handed. This is not the state in Tamil Nadu alone!

Taapsee to launch her sister

Trisha says that she will not imitate Nayanthara and Asin

Kaavalan is the remake of the Malayalam film Body Guard. Nayanthara did the female lead role in the Malayalam film while Asin did the female lead role in the Tamil film Kaavalan. Now this film is being remade in Telugu.

Venkatesh and Trisha are in the lead roles in this film. Speaking about this film, Trisha said, "The story of Body Guard is very wonderful. It is an emotional love story. I like my character in this film. I have acted with dedication. The shooting of college scenes have been completed.
Nayanthara and Asin have acted in Tamil and Malayalam films respectively. I cannot say whose acting is good. Both of them are good actresses. But I will not imitate them."

The nerves in your brain will become energetic. My smile is important for the beauty of my face. Most of the times, during the shooting I don’t use make ups. Only if the director insists I will put on the make up.
I will wash my face with warm water always. If I apply make up, I will go to bed only after wiping it with warm water. I don’t have the habit of going to beauty parlors or doing facials."
